Hanging wallpaper

I see there is no decorating forum so I'll just ask here if thats ok! Has anyone hung wallpaper before and is it difficult? It's in my own house not a paid job. I know about putting the lining paper up horizontally then the paper vertically and setting out/ pattern matching etc. Is it easy like tiling :lol: or should I pay for a pro who knows what they're doing?

Have you seen the Paste the Wall wallpaper Bri? apparently it makes the whole wallpapering experience a lot easier. I won't say it makes it dead easy to the point of putting our trained and dedicated painters and decorators out of business, but it should make life a little easier.

I know Mikethetile is a decorator, he'll be able to give you some clue whether you're in need of professional help :lol: :smilewinkgrin:

All about the prep again.... I've done more than I care to remember. Some are a doddle and some are a right bugger to do.

Ive not chosen the paper yet, haven't found one I like yet. It's only going to be a feature wall so no going round corners or anything too complicated!!!!! I sort of understand the pattern repeat thing and how many lengths per roll to get the repeat.

Whatever paper you decide on,after working out how many rolls you want,buy one or 2 more,they will take back unopened rolls,and if your pattern goes out of stock all of a sudden(this has happened to me)you can still finish the wall.

You may find with a large pattern that you open a couple of rolls of paper to avoid to much waste on the repeat.

i paste the wall as well as the paper, makes the paper much easier to slide about whilst aligning
