Hi All

Am a newbie here and needed some advice... Am going to be involved in tiling a bathroom with Ivory Brown granite stone and have used Mapei Adhesive Adesilex P9 (it comes in a bag powdered) for ceramic tiles in the past.

Is it ok to use the same adhesive with this natural granite stone ?

Someone told me that it could stain natural stone ?

We have done part of a wall using this and it made the tile go darker in colour
🙁 but not sure if when it dries up it will go back to normal colour or if the colour change is permanent ?

If it has stained the stone can we fix this someway or is it a retile job ?

Please help I am worried !!

Thanks so much

Zak....

Also am doing some marble too...go the wet cutter.... How do I knw if the marble tiles need sealing or not ?

Also what else needs to be done to the granite ...does it need sealing too ?

What grout from Mapei would you recommend ?

Thanks again 🙂

check about sealing with the suppler i sometimes use stainstop once finished some hardily need it some do depends on lots of things can always test it first mapei grout i don`t like it

i think you said brown granite.....i have not come across one of them....but if you have marron imperial (brown with a white flek and vein) its a marble.....
anyhow lithofin recommend you use stain stop with any marble/limestone or granite.....they even reccomend it for slate if its in a wet area....but they make slate seal and slate oil......doh!

oh and if it is marron then i would use choclato 144

Dont forget pro most of the guys here are newbs 😛ete

Some stones do darken from the adhesives used..so it wise to back-skim to get a uniform colour or the ribs can show as dark lines etc...and if the darkening is patchy it is not guaranteed to dry out either it could be stained....100% coverage is always best .....

Dh is totally right, by buttering the tile backs you are covering the whole area...this may darken the tiles but at least it will uniform in colour .....

a good practice is dark tiles dark adhesive......
