Hi All

Am a newbie here and needed some advice... Am going to be involved in tiling a bathroom with Ivory Brown granite stone and have used Mapei Adhesive Adesilex P9 (it comes in a bag powdered) for ceramic tiles in the past.

Is it ok to use the same adhesive with this natural granite stone ?

Someone told me that it could stain natural stone ?

We have done part of a wall using this and it made the tile go darker in colour
🙁 but not sure if when it dries up it will go back to normal colour or if the colour change is permanent ?

If it has stained the stone can we fix this someway or is it a retile job ?

Please help I am worried !!

Thanks so much

Zak....

It not so much the adhesive on darker stones it's just down to the fixing method...and if it has darkened up due to this it might just have stained it....If it hasn't dried out within a few days then i think it has stained it...

ok thanks...so I think it has stained.... as is been a few days already.... 🙁((

Anyone here on this forum want to help me fix this issue ... Am based in West London and will pay to fix the issue of the stain.... I hear there are products out there which can do that ?

Thanks for he geat reponse all 🙂 So...

I assume you are saying using the wrong adhesive could stain the tile ?

This is possible but must not happen.
As a rule I advice to take an a fast flexible white and fine trass adhesive for all white / yellow / green and blue natural stones. Depending on the stone a grey adhesive might do with red, black and brownblack colour.

As you like Mapei adhesives you better check the Adesilex P 10, not the P 9.
Cheers, Martin
