can i use the bath lip instead of using battens.

Hi Tricky15, you will need to leave a small gap (2mm) to allow for a silicon joint between the top of the bath and bottom of tile. Don't sit the tile directly onto the bath, that leaves no room to seal and the bath may not be level.

:welcome: and if you do start your layout from the bath, make sure the bath is level and check for any poxy little cuts you might get elsewhere. If you find you have some small cuts anywhere you might want to adjust you starting point. Yep the Silicon joint on the bath lip is a must as mentioned:thumbsup:

Welcome and good luck, read all the good advice given and always always ask if in doubt.

I would use marmox board or similar on your stud wall which doesn't need priming but would need jointing with Silicon or tape.

yes tile off bath if the cuts allow but be sure to leave 2mm gap or so for Silicon as previoulsy mentioned, when grouting do not grout this joint and same applies to any vertical wall joints on the tiles over the bath/shower

Hope this helps and feel free to post any pics, as the peeps on here only have criticism of the constructive nature....

hi

reason i want to use the bath level is because its perfect i don need to cut any of the tiles apart from in the corners non for meeting against ceiling, taken into account 4mm grout lines my tiles would stop 15mm from the top but thats fine as im fitting wooden slats and a plastic ceiling which would bring it down 30mm over the tiles and the corner pieces are 400mm approx no poxy cuts here

its like a tilers dream job lol

is Kera flex a good adhesive for the tiles i will be using?
