Mapei’s Mapetex is a synthetic, non-woven fabric that may be used as an anti-fracture system together with Mapei’s Ultralite Rapid Flex S1 lightweight rapid setting deformable adhesive.


Jason Brunt, Ceramic Product Manager at Mapei UK commented: “One 1m x 50m roll of Mapetex and approximately five bags of Ultralite Rapid Flex S1 will provide anti-fracture security for your following tiles and adhesive over a 50m2 area. Mapetex works as an anti-fracture membrane by sandwiching the layers of reinforcing fabric between two layers of deformable cement-based adhesive, such as Mapei’s Ultralite Rapid Flex S1. The joints can then be finished with Mapei grout such as Ultracolor Plus (available in 35 colours).

I've used mapetex and it's a good product and good value, but why do you stipulate the use of specific adhesive? Just wondered!

Because they sell adhesive, so they are going to specify that, ofcourse!

Blinkin' stupid then.
If you use these products correctly, why would you need a guarantee? And if you did need a guarantee you can bet you've messed up the installation!
Adhesive is just adhesive when it comes to fixing an uncoupling/anti-fracture membrane surely?

Same with primer ........but at the end of the day primer is primer..........no matter what adhesive you use ....

I used to use sbr but now use Mapei primer g because it is better . I conducted a very unscientific test that is that if you spill it and let it dry it is harder to remove than sbr .

I no I just realised I said test . Damn I should of tiled the wall grouted and siliconed let it dry then spray it with water for 1 week straight then removed it all to see what condition the primer was in . Otherwise it is a worthless test .
