I had my van screwed last night. I only noticed as its in for an MOT tomorrow so I was getting all my tools etc out and couldn't find my TS40 cutter. Then I noticed the tell tell screwdriver hole to the left of the rear doors lock...................****heads

BUT, apart from the theft, what can I do about the damage to the door/lock? Its a belingo.

A very pee'd off Fred.

I hate that, had that happen a few times over the years to vans.

I seen a few people use one of these on the back doors of the van, might be worth a thought.

PJrich beat me to it ...that is the kind of thing that most guys use here.

The worst theft I ever had wasn't very expensive...somebody stole some carpentry handtools that I had inherited from my grandfather..he bought them about the time my dad was born,so early 1940's. :mad2::mad2: Can't replace 'em.:incazzato::incazzato:

It really makes me want to kill 'em. NEVER touch a man's tools he earns with...............FULL STOP

I know Dave, being a former chippy, can appreciate this...two of the tools that were stolen were a hammer and a coping saw. Both were so old and so well-used that the wooden handles on the hammer and coping saw were worn down and the grain of the wood smoothed liked from sandpaper, all from Grandpa using them for 50 years before I got them. :mad2: Also, the metal frame on the coping saw had gotten fatigued enough from use that it was almost like a spring, and it would bend just enough to allow for easy coping of crown molding....aarrgghhh...that almost 18 years ago and I'm still bitter :incazzato:

How annoying that some people don't know yours from theirs! - and all the trouble it put people in as getting it sorted.
And just plain sad when it is something of great sentimental value! It is often useless to people getting their hands on it but to great value to the owner!

Really hope that you get new locks and - also sorry to hear about the inherited tools too.

Good luck getting them pay the price! :ninja:

sorry to hear about this Fred.

how old is your Berlingo? the reason I ask is that hubby reckons the newer Berlingo's have alarms fitted as standard now. If anything, a noisy alarm might put off future opportunists. The numpty that stole your cutter probably doesn't even know what it's for...

And another nugget of info from hubby.. he tells me you can now get van space sized secure trucks that you can wheel in and out of your van and then store somewhere else when you don't want your tools in the van. I'd never even heard of such a thing, but I guess as thieving still goes on, security companies will of course keep inventing such items.
