    tiling over quarry tiles

Thanks guys I meant that they are happy to SLC to get rid of any lips and dips. Taking the existing up is not an option really. I'm aware that the adhesive/SLC will not stick to the wax on the tiles. Maybe I worded my thread wrong. What I was trying to say is whats the best way of going...

    tiling over quarry tiles

Evening all, Went to see a job tonight which involves fitting 600 x 300 porcelain tiles OVER distressed farmhouse quarry tiles. The existing quarry tiles have been down along time and all seem fairly level and secure. Have got the ok to slc before tiling so thats not a prob. My only concern is...

Bosch GTR 30 - Gimmick tool or worth having?

Its mainly stone tiles I fit. The occasional porc job. Thought I'd upgrade my kit and get some pukka hole cutters. What do you guys use for cutting holes on stone and porc? Is it better to go with the 365 kit and keep replacing them or go marcrist/rubi kits? The new marcrist dry hole cutters to...

Bosch GTR 30 - Gimmick tool or worth having?

Hi guys Thought I'd ask your opinions. I keep seeing these advertised and they look quite useful but I'm just not sure how good they are and if I would get my money's worth out of it. Has anyone got one and would you recommend them? I do a lot of stone work so the scribing side of it looks...

Where to buy tile hand display boards?

Hi guys, I'm looking to get some hand display boards. Either in coloured mdf or perspex. (need black or white, not sure yet) Also they need to have the carry handle cut out like the boards you find in all tile showrooms. Does anyone know where I can get them? any ideas on the cost? Cheers...

    Stains on white limestone floor

Thanks for all the replies. I think between us all we've worked out a plan now then. Get a re-finishing company in to look at the stone and see if there is anything they can do by removing the sealer, cleaning or re-honing the stone. And then its a case of fingers crossed the staining isn't too...

    Stains on white limestone floor

Thanks. I have been worried about it to be honest. Tiles were all dry and fine when I left. Client and contractor have agreed its nothing to do with me so I'm pretty clear of the mess I hope. I'm just trying to fix this for the client and earn brownie points.

    Stains on white limestone floor

Thanks Jonny. Any extra info would be great! I've been told by the client that its Moleanos white honed limestone. The other side to this is the stairs are fitted and come down onto the tiles. If they re-hone them how much do they take off? will there be any lippage? Can they get in close to...

    Stains on white limestone floor

Yeah sealed once because I had to get out so the next trade could come in. It was being sheeted over anyway and so would be protected. I was due to return to finish sealing when the stairs were in. I had no choice in the matter. Client had booked a time slot with the stair people and that was...

    Stains on white limestone floor

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I'm starting to think either re-honing the surface might do it or a total rip up and replace. Lithofin have nothing that might help remove the stains. I'm waiting for a company to come and see the floor regarding re-finishing the surface but they don't seem too...

    Stains on white limestone floor

Yeah I was due to return to add more sealer once the sheeting was up. I was put on a tight deadline due to stairs and a flash glass walkway going in above so I had to be out. I thought one heavy coat of sealer would give it some protection especially as it was being covered over. Floor was...
