Preparing uneven concrete floor for tiling

Hi Bond, that's right, the crack is just the meeting point between floor and step. I've not come across uncoupling membrane before. Just having a quick read, and you just bed it in tike adhesive is that correct? Would the concrete floor need priming first? The butting the door issue I mentioned...

Preparing uneven concrete floor for tiling

So just use a tanking slurry and sbr instead of going down the route of a dpm like the bostik cementone one? The dampness is actually only a very small amount appearing by the door. In the picture the darker area of the floor at the top is the outside step coming under the front door and butting...

Preparing uneven concrete floor for tiling

Hi, I have a small roughly 1 metre square porch area that we would like to put tile down on and am just looking for some advice as the area isn't without problems. The area is concrete which has quite the slope - between the bottom of the wooden step in the foreground of the image attached and...

    Plasterboard on bathroom wall

Thanks for the info folks, I think I'll get some sbr for a bit of piece of mind. I'm assuming bal bond sbr and everbuild bond sbr do the same. Does it just form a waterproof/resistant coating on the boards then as well as improving adhesion? Should be able to return the acrylic one.

    Plasterboard on bathroom wall

Doh, wish I'd just got extra marmox for the last wall, probably going to work out more expensive after buying adhesive and fixings for dot dabbing the pb. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I also got some primer for the plasterboard as I'm using a cement based tile adhesive for my porcelain tiles...

    Plasterboard on bathroom wall

I've put up marmox backer boards on 3 of the walls in my small bathroom including the wall that holds the loo and basin, side of shower and shower itself. I've bought normal 12.5mm plasterboard for the remaining wall which is furthest away from the bath/ shower (about 1.5m away) to try and save...

    Marmox board installation

I'm going to be installing marmox boards in my new bathroom onto the brick walls using the dot and dab and dowel fixing method but would just like to clarify what to do at the joints. In wet areas I've read that you use the marmox waterproof sealing tape and dry/damp areas just self adhesive...

    My 1st Job Hardiebacker confusion

I'm going to try and get hold of some Marmox but I've not found a local stockist so far. Short of that will there be a massive difference to using a tanked moisture resistant plasterboard?

    My 1st Job Hardiebacker confusion

Appreciate the responses, I think I'm going to return them. They are from b and q so should be fine. I'm struggling to find any stockists nearby for marmox, wedi or jacko boards. I know I can get nomoreply which can be dot and dabbed. If hardiebacker was going to need to be tanked anyway which...

    My 1st Job Hardiebacker confusion

I didn't think you could dot dab hardiebacker? It says not to on their faq or are they referring to solely using dot dab. Is it OK with the additional mechanical fix?

    My 1st Job Hardiebacker confusion

Thanks for the suggestion bond. It's a tight room and the battens would bring the tiles past the door frame on one of the walls. Forgive my ignorance but what do you mean by glue on packing pieces?

    My 1st Job Hardiebacker confusion

Hi, my first post and as the title suggests my first attempt at renovating a bathroom. I bought some hardiebacker 500 for boarding around the shower area with the intention of using the fixing to masonry instructions given by hardiebacker ie high strength gap fill adhesive and screws into the...
