Distribution circuits in apartment block Discussion ThreadDistribution circuits in apartment block Electrical Advice
Hi all,
First time poster here, albeit long time lurker.
I could do with some opinions on running distribution circuits around and through the building voids of an apartment...
Hi, after some advice, doing some renovations at a house we’ve just moved into. Knocked kitchen/diner into 1 room, took the tiles up from the existing kitchen and there appears to be a hump in the concrete screed, it’s a block and beam floor, put level on the highest point and there’s 6mm gap...
Hi, I’ve decided to re tile my bathroom walls and floors due to the poor state they were in when I moved in.
I’ve stripped the old rotten plasterboard from the stud wall and plan on installing 12mm Hardiebacker boards and then tile straight on with 10mm porcelain.
The other two walls had what...

After removing my old bathroom tiles, the plasterboard behind was in a state. I have removed the plasterboard and removed the old dot and dab on the block wall. The block wall is quite uneven.
Is it ok to batten the wall, attach tile backer to the studs and tile?
If so, what size battens do I...
Evening all, Got an external job on the go and the customer has requested the tops of the breeze block walls to be tiled using the same external 10mm porcelain tiles as the patio. My question is would it be ok to tile directly to the blocks or would I need to overboard (mechanically fixed) them...

Trying to work out if it's most reactions received or given. Either way, well done @Doug Boardley in first place :)
@antonio and @Boggs joint second, and @Albert gets bronze medal in third. :)
(I've set it to past 30 days, but I think the wording needs changing it still says 7 -...
Hi Everyone, my names Howard. I’m new to this site, and relatively new to tiling. I’ve just set up on my own so hopefully I can pick your brains and learn from you guys
I've taken a wall back to the brick/blockwork and want to dot and dab moisture resistant plasterboard.
What kind of prep should l do on the wall prior to dot and dabbing? Wire brush it, seal it with anything.
Once l've put up the plasterboard, prior to tiling, do l need to apply any kind of...
Hi all,
I'm a DIY learner so hoping for some great tips!
My sister is having a bathroom refurb and will be wanting some professional advice so I gain some knowledge before doing mine.
Hi, sorry, I know this is a question asked a thousand times, but I can't find a clear enough answer that matches my particular situation. I think I'm good to go, but I wanted to make sure.
Walls to be tiled are red-brick which has been plastered (and tiled) before, there's a nice skim remaining...
I was going to fix backerboards with a continuous bed of adhesive (presuming they're not too squiffy), or dot-and-dab plus fixings if they look nasty. The wall is a standard thermalite type block thing. Might be a silly question but do I need to prime the wall or is the adhesive all right to go...

Hi everyone,
We've an existing kitchen floor on Block & Beam + starting an adjoining extension with wooden joists. (has to be due to slope)
We are wanting 'Wet UFH' across both surfaces finished off with tiles but only have a maximum height on top of block & beam of 80mm (including tiles), is...
Just ordered a set of the flexy hand diamond pads from rite lines coz the polisher is a bit aggressive for some stuff I found I increased the bullnose from 5 mm to 10 if I wasn't careful even when I was careful it was still more than 5 mm
I've 35sq meters of 100-150mm tiles to be laid onto block walls. I'm wondering will I have to float the walls with sand and cement first for better adhesion for the adhesive or roll on the tile primer or that primer that's used for tiling over tiles. If this was your own job, what way would you...
Hi
Building a pool soon that will need to be waterproofed ready for tiling. I have previously built 3 pools that had a liner finish so this will be the first pool that I have rendered and then tiled the interior so if anyone has any advise on this forum it would be much appreciated. I can buy...
