I used to cut them in tiny metal mitre block, but got fed up with it as the 2.4m length trim moved alot using the hacksaw so I ended up making my own mitre block, what do you lads use to make your life easier, like hearing how other tilers do it there way
Hi,
over the past few years we have got by using our DeWalt wet table cutter when cutting large format stone, this is really only suitable for up to about 600mm and even struggles with that size on the 45. Then just using a hose with an angle grinder or hiring a Stihl saw which im now very...
I'm building a custom vanity unit to fit into a space which is looking great so far.
When looking around for ideas for the top and like the idea of a tiled top but didn't like having joints or grout lines (it would look silly as its only a small cabinet and space) I've realised I can get the...

Had 2 blades delivered from ATS and tried them out on Porcel-Thin as my Montolit Pro-Gres seemed chip more than it should, centre picture shows the Pro-gres disc, this was a quick test. The blades used for 2 cuts, the one on the left was dry the cut on the right hand side was with a damp sponge...

I am after some advise regarding the cutting of a raised pattern/profile tile. The tile has wave decorations and is a large format 600mmX300mm. I have tried cutting across the tile using a rail cutter but the cut are not snapping straight and the blade often damages the glaze. Would it be best...
Just a quick question if I may..
Is it possible to cut tiles with a jigsaw using a carbide grit blade or should I just not go there? Do I need to wet cut the tile or can it be dry cut?
If not, is a carbide grit hacksaw ok?
Cheers
Jay
I bought a Vitrex 750 tile cutter the other day to cut some Wickes 600 x 300 x 9mm glazed porcelain tiles.
The standard blade chips badly so I also bought a Vitrex Hi Glaze blade 103406 which cuts better but still chips the edges a bit and has a bit of runout in it.
Is the runout in the blade...
Hi - I've been looking through the forum threads looking for info / tips and there is lots to take on board.
I'm tackling a bathroom refurb after many years of very little diy!!! I have tiled before, kitchen wall & floor, bathroom walls etc so I have an idea of the process but I need some...
I have a job to restore damaged sections of a very old mosaic floor (circa 1909) and will need to cut down material of various sizes/thicknesses to create the 20mm x 20mm and 20mm x 10mm material that I need to work with. This is because I have sourced unglazed porcelain from various ranges in...

Just to get some opinions on here;
I'm cutting a lot of marble into small pieces (10mm cubes) using a Vitrex 900 watt bridge saw and I try various blades on it. I cut for 3 - 4 hours at a time. I'm looking at a Belle BC350 which has 2.2hp.
My question is for faster cutting would I be better...
Just about to buy one of these to cut large curves round shower trays etc. Has anyone used it, and does it do the job well in porcelain etc? Many thanks.
Hi,
I'm tiling a "wet" area around my shower tray but I'm having a real problem cutting the 330mm ceramic tiles.
Every time I try to snap a tile, the break veers off away to the side - And it's always the same side!
I started off with a wickes tile cutter - the first twenty or so snapped...
