Hi,
I have a potential job coming up using encaustic tiles, has anyone had any experience with these tiles and if so could I have some install advice, pre-sealing if necessary etc, as I've never dealt with this type of tile.
Thanks,
Ross
way to get rid of a hand print stain on encaustic rile.tiles were washed before sealing left to dry overnight sealed with lithofin .and now when the sun shines you can see a handprint visible:mad2:
I have been trying to clean the Victorian encaustic tiles in my hallway. I got them a lot cleaner using KF Tile Restorer, which I followed with Stain Stop. However the Stain Stop has a matt finish and I'd like them slightly shiny if possible, and to try and bring out the colours a bit more...

Hi Guys

Hi everyone,
Ive got a small w/c floor job starting soon. The customer has ordered encaustic cement tiles such as the type found on this web site

Hi I've recently laid some encaustic floor tiles. They were kept meticulously clean throughout laying. They were sealed with the recommended sealant, fila fob, before grouting.
However, The cleaner they recommend isn't cleaning them up enough to put a finished seal on. After 3 attempts.( fila...
I am not a tiler, just a woman with tiles. I had new cement encaustic tiles laid down about two weeks ago. First a sealer was applied then a grout. I bought the brand recommended by the manufacturer. The grout seems to have left a greasy film which I am having a very hard time removing. It makes...
Does any one have a tile to exact match of this one. Its 3'' x 3'' [75x75mm] Blue on White. I need just one or to be exact half of one, so if you have one, even if its got a chip or damage on on side up to 50% we could use it. We will pay you and postage etc.
I can get one made as well, but...
Hi All, I'm looking for some advice please.
I went and saw a potential customer last night who has a Fired Earth encaustic floor laid in her hallway (Grau - Encaustic - Wall & Floor Tiles | Fired Earth). Approx 8 sq metres.
The floor has been down about 2 years (not my work) and in my opinion...
Hi
All the info is out there on the net about this subject but I am seeming to go round in circles a bit...as opinions differ...
Here are my tiles, just a small number - won't be doing a hall or anything big, so this is not a majorly important cleanup....an improvement would be nice....
Some...

Then grouted, however when giving the floor a mop prior to second seal the...
Hello
I am wanting to relay my original Victorian tiled floor. I have around 80% of the tiles.
I have researched the manufacturer to be Craven Dunnill, but getting the missing tiles remade is expensive, so I searched for an alternative and found some that I can cut to size and intermingle with...
We have recently had laid a kitchen floor with encaustic tiles from fired earth (20mm x 200 x 200), they went down on a stable slab that had had tiles on before. the encaustic tiles have cracked in places almost along contour lines, in multi directions. They are still in place, but...
How do you tell the difference between encaustic and dustpressed ime trying to determine what tiles i have in a room in my house in Spain so i can restore them a bit with the right stuff.
Cheers Lucius.
Hi,
I read with interest another post regarding the cleaning of an old Edwardian floor. I had a similar problem in my kitchen. It is made from red quarry tiles, beautifully laid with hardly any grout, they are so close.
One: I have removed as best I can, glue and levelling compound, but...

Hello, I'm a new member and DIYer hoping that you can give me some advice on a tiling job in my new home. I am laying a hall floor with 8" encaustic floor tiles, 21mm thick, apparently originating in a French wine-merchant's chateau (they were quite expensive so I NEED to get this right). They...
