I havent posted for a while ive been asked to price a tiling job its around 185m2 with ceramic 300x300 tiles on a concrete floor all of which im fine with
my only question is how often do i need to fit expansion joints and which are best to go with and where to get them i was...
Ive got a barn floor various room sizes one room is 10 mts in length do you think I would need an expansion joint or would it be ok or leave 5mm away from walls where the skirting is going
I'm looking at some plans for a large terrace about 1600.00 sq mts.
The current proposal is to use rhomboid shape tiles locking up to each other.
the tiles themselves will have different coloured glazes when each tile is split colour wise in two .ie two triangular colour shapes per tile.

On big kitchens conservatories etc when customers don't want expansion joints on the centre of the floor.
What other method would you use?
Would u just cut tiles back 10 15 mm from the perimeter to allow expansion

In a few weeks time I have a new build house to tile.
The total area is about 220sqm.
The downstairs floor is about 120sqm and will be tiled using Limestone in free length.
The screed is completely dry (sand/cement) and the surface is like a snooker table which I'll prime first...

looking at peoples albums, i see that lots don't use them, WHY, i know it is not a good selling the job point ,BUT it is for our own good,and the longevity of the installation ,or do you think it is somebody (tile shop) job to make the client aware ?

I have 22mm WBP plywood flooring for my wet-room. The ply is laid in two large panels which meet above (and along) the middle floor joist.
The edge of the panels are about 5mm from the wall (so - room for expansion).
Should I be fitting the panels with a gap in-between, too? (i.e...

As some of you know, i've laid 600x600 porcelain tiles with UFH, the approx size is about 13.5sqm, would I need any expansion joints due to having UFH. Just reading horror stories about probs with porcelain tiles and UFH, so want everything to be right? Cheers

I'm doing a floor tomorrow, I have got to include a 1.5m expansion joint where a small concrete section joins the main t&g floor, the problem is that if i put the tiles straight at the base units opposite, the the expansion joint will over lap the gap by about 3cm at one end, would I get away...
When laying ply do you fill the exspansion joints between the sheets with silicon or put tape over them to stop adhesive filling the gap. If using tape what kind do you use.
