Hi There
The floor below is a wet heated screed and the long corridor is 17m long there are 2 doors on this corridor and i intended to fit 1 or 2 expansion joints under the doors to break up the corridor span.
Where the off the corridor doors are the rooms are about 5m deep so including the...

all expansion joints need to be respected but if you have a expansion joint in the middle of a room and a full tile overlaps it by an inch or two ie :the tile is not in line with the joint is that a no no or is there room for play either side of the joint

Evening all,
i have my floor ready to tile and have an expansion gap all round the perimeter. So, when I come to the gaps do I fill them with Silicon and close the gap up with the tile on top?
At the minute I have 5mm all round the edge of my insulation and SLC.
Thanks in advance,
Dan
I'm after some advice on how to build in expansion gaps for my kitchen floor.
The floor is 8sqm, and my current plan is as follows -
leave a 5 - 10mm perimeter at all areas where floor meets walls.
But what do I do with this gap? Do I put some special tape in it to stop thermal bridging or...

This is a post I never thought I would be typing, about 12 yrs ago I did a balcony using Dural ci mat, taped joints, and Dural pre-formed expansion joints ( this was the best option back then).
A few weeks ago I had a call from the customer saying he had water coming through his car port...
Hi I've laid a ceramic tile floor, however I'm concerned that a tile is too close to a water pipe that is coming out of the floor. There is a gap of around 1.5mm between the tile an pipe. The room is 1.5metres squared. Is this likely to be a problem? If so what's the best method to cut the tile...
Hi all,

Hi i'm currently tiling a downstairs toilet floor (2x2 m). Do I need to leave and expansion gap around the edge of the perimeter? If not can the first tile start from the skirting board or would this look ridiculous. If an expansion gap is required, do I fill it with sealant or grout? Thanks for...

I've not laid the concrete slab yet do I need to put expansion joints in that too?
Should I put a waterproof membrane on the slab before tiling?
The size of the patio is 6.5 x 2.4 m

Hi all.
I've had a bit of a trawl through the forum and can't seem to find any numbers as such. We're laying about 27m2 of Travertine over wet UFH, going down on Durabase matting. We're wondering how much of an expansion gap to leave between the base of the external door and the tile? And I...

Hi all ,
Whats the current consensus on size of fields in a large 400m² floor , no UFH , screed , pretty much one large area , porc tiles?
I'm thinking of going around 7 x 7 or 8 x 8 using Schluter exp' bar or similar .
Cheers
