12mm height difference - width of the door.
Had to use 18mm ply in bathroom and 6mm cement board in hallway - different tiles but same thickness.
Could I pack out most of the depth with cement board then use grout to profile the slope?
Any other ideas?
Hi All
I've just completed tiling my bathroom after many weeks.
I'm quite please with the overall result but not happy with one aspect-where the walls meet the ceiling there are a few dodgy cuts that have gaps which are just too large to silicon and leave a nice finish.
I don't want to...
Floor tiling up to the face of skirtingboards that you cant or are not allowed to remove … how do you like to finish that final ‘grouting’ line? (grout, calk, Silicon?). thx, Stan
Does any one know an alternative to Silicon for internal wall tiled corners, (gaps a little big), is there a product similar to normal tile trim used on windows etc? that could give a clean finish:oops:
This is my first post so I hope its OK and you Guys can help

I've got to tile onto floorboards so I'll be putting down 15 mm WBP board and screwing every 20cm etc. Once I've then added adhesive and floor tiles then the height difference between the tiled room and the carpeted floor in the hallway will be around 30mm. How do you finish this to make it...
I enjoy tiling in natural stone & love seeing the finished product & the look on the customers face when they see it finished for the first time. As I want to make sure it stays looking good for as long as possible afterwards ( this reflects on me ) I always provide the customer a free bottle of...

I am planning to tile over tile in a half-tiled cloakroom to cut down on mess and effort. This means I will have to disguise the double thickness top edge. Is there a professional way of doing this? Any advice most welcome.
Hello Tilers all,
I'd be much obliged if some kind soul could advise me the neatest way to finish the corner of a tiled bath panel. The tiles are beautifully flush to the bath, however this means that even with edging trim the external corner protrudes beyond the curved corner of the bath...
Hi,
I'm new to professional tiling and new to the forum. My 1st job is tomorrow and I have been asked by the client to finish off a bad grouting job performed by builders who were sacked.
Basically a large marble tiled bathroom has a 2/3mm joint for which the terracotta grout has not been...

Hi All
Just finished tiling my bathroom and have started grouting. Just wondered what the best way of finishing off where the top of the wall tile meets the ceiling. I`ve left a 2mm gap up there.
Should I put flexible grout in there or use some sealant ?
Thanks
As stone has become more popular and specialist stone fixers are few and far between tilers take on a proportion of their work. Most stone work such as sealing and maintenance can be researched but on the odd occasion tilers come up against practices they are not trained for. One of these...
Looking for information on how you guys finish travertine floors, always left with residue of the grout, the grout tends to go white while cleaning down, and have some small kickers in the tiles well maybe a 1mm, Do you sand then polish the floors to give a totally flat smooth floor or just buff...

client phoned me today to have a look at a bathroom floor.
He wants me to do the cuts which he cant do.
As I have never priced for such a small job i was just wondering what you lads would charge ( i know most of you would not take it on!)
there are 6 cuts to do 4 straightforward around...
How is this best done? I have seen many kitchens where the join between the worktop and the wall tiles is sealed with silicon, but this has cracked and peeled because, I suspect, of movement of the worktop. Anybody got any tips??

Been to a ladies flat today, sister of a freind. She bought this flat and it has an additional single lavatory. Flat was empty for 10 months.
The walls of lavatory have been tiled but not grouted. Obviously a diy job as it was not set out correct but the tiling is fairly passable all for one...
I have almost done a kitchen splash back. Decided not to use an edging trim on the top because the length was too long...
So what's the best way to finish off the top row? Grout? Silicon, Caulk? or simply paint the top edges of the top row tiles to match the walls.
Hi Lads
If you had an external corner to finish but the client did not want trim what would you do if the wall was not straight and you had to cut the tiles to get a level finish.
What is your method of finishing off a floor when you get to the skirting boards, i personally think Silicon should be kept for bathrooms and around wet areas such as sinks and baths.
I think silcone would simply look out of place in a dining room, entrance hall or conservatories and skirting...
