I have a grey slate tile (Oppdalskifer, Norway) with natural surface (300x340x50mm, indoor use, without any wear). What could I use to make the tile much darker and at the same not being glossy.
I would prefer natural products, and I'm happy for DIY suggestions.

Normally I have to work with tiles varying less than 1-2 mm , but sometimes I have to use tiles with 3-6 mm variation, or/and not squared.
In this cases, I make bigger joints, and use white (or other color similar of the tiles) joint cement.
Even so, I'm not satisfied with the results...

I know you can't tile painted walls, but what would be the best course of action?
Sand it back to plaster?
Key the surface?
Is there a treatment you can apply?
Or something else?
PS reason for question, my belt sander just broke!
PPS Would you use a bag of self mix adhesive if it's been...

Hi,
I posted the message below on the main forum a couple of weeks back. However I've had no replies. Over a hundred people have read the post, so there is clearly a lot of interest in this particular subject.
I then notice this part of the forum dealing with real stone, and thought I'd...

A customer is thinking of installing 600 x 400 marble tiles along walls and floor in their wet room installation. Are these tiles likely to be solid marble? If so, is the only way to cut these with a wet cutter?
Finally, how long would you expect it taking to tile a rectangular wet room...
