Hello there. My name is Al and live up in Aberdeenshire. i've been tiling easy stuff for myself, friends, family for a fair few years. A time served sparky from way back in the day, that now works in an office and likes to get his hands dirty.
Lurked a few times on here and normally get sound...
Hi all,
I was hoping I could get a little advice.
Currently doing a bit of tiling in the kitchen and have a few internal corners. When I have to cut a tile that reaches the corner do I need to replicate the same length of tile on the wall next to it or can I use a full length tile or do I use...

I have a tiled kitchen floor that needs replacing to address the hollow and hence mega chipped (but yet to crack!) tiles and want to improve the warmth and wondering if my cunning plan below would work?

Hi all.
After completing a short tiling course earlier in the year here is my first attempt at doing my own kitchen.
On the whole I'm pleased with it, yes there are some things I would have done differently but I guess it's all good experience and you learn from your mistakes. Just looking to...
Morning, another new DIYer here! I'm Matt, based in Norfolk and while I'm in the construction industry as my day job it's from a quantity surveying angle so less hands on than I'd prefer.
I've done a little tiling here and there so reasonably comfortable with it (and find it oddly enjoyable)...
In the photo attached I want to put down a new floor in the kitchen off the hallway. Currently there is lino there.
I'd like to put down something that won't look awful with the Victorian tile hallway.
My first choice is tile, although wood has been suggested that I would always have avoided...
Hey guys.
Long time reader, first time poster.
I've got 42mm between my current concrete slab (insulated) and my desired final floor level (tiles)
How do I overlay my pipes?
Is there a thin screed that can be applied over the pipes?
Alternatively I was thinking of making some DIY overlay...
I’m after some advice really. I’m having my kitchen done at the moment and although I’m happy (more or less) with the units, the tiling on the walls is, I suspect a bit crap. I’m gutted - I’ve been looking forward to having it done for so long and I was so excited
The builder is really nice...
Hi all,
This is first post here.
I have an old house which we are in the process of re-doing kitchen and whilst lifting the many decades of different flooring, finally came down on what must be the original 1905 floor tiles. They are at least 2in thick and classic red terracotta. Under them is...
I (DIY'er) am going to tile my bathroom and en suite and have purchased 600 X 600 porcelain tiles. Initially after reading many posts on here I was going to get a DeWalt d24000 but I can't justify the cost as I'm not a tiler plus the missus would probably use it on me if she found out the cost...

I have a few tiling jobs will be doing over next few months, just DIY but going to get a grinder and good blades.
I have other Bosch tools so was going to stick with them as I like the brand but also as I have the batteries and saw the cordless grinder.
The batteries I have are only 2ah one but...
Hi after doing a short tiling course I'm going to tile my kitchen splash back for some practice and to gain a bit of experience, at my own pace so I can get it as good as I can.
I've started taking off the old tiles (which put up very little resistance ) I'll scrape off the little amount of...
Hi all,
Just a quick post to say Hi. I brought my first house about 18 months ago, and as time passes more and more DIY jobs arise. Some out of choice, some not :)
My first job ever was laying engineered wood flooring. My second biggest job (starting this Sat) tiling kitchen splash back, about...
Hi All,

I have 5 msq area to cover, and my tiles are square, each box of tiles contains 5 different patterns, below is an image of the patterned tiles...
