In this tough time trying to get work do you all try and make a bit of money on all your materials, for example if you get a bag of grout for 7 quid do you charge the customer 8,9 or 10 quid for it? Or do you just give it the customer at your price?
Just be intrested to see what others do, i...
Hi all, my apologies if this is the wrong area to post but could anyone please advise if the following prices for Mapei products are competitive.

I'm afraid this is going to be one of those questions that exposes my ignorance.....
Is it common for the tiler to pay for the cost of the tiles to be installed, or is the customer expected to 'front' the money?
Cheers

Hi,
I know this must sound a stupid question! But whats the best way to clean the buckets after using adhesive and grout? (Thats mixed by hand) regarding the dirty water after?
I think it's fun to make spreadsheets. As a test, I've adapted part of spreadsheet I made for calculating material amounts. This specific part handles grout amounts, that is, how much grout powder you need for specific tile sizes and grout widths on any given surface.
It involves a little math...
When charging for materials, for a job, such as adhesive,
do you charge for the amount you use or for the full amount of materials you bought for the job regardless of how much you use?
I wonder if someone could give me a vague idea of how much adhesive and grout should cost to tile an average sized bathroom at current UK prices? (16 square metres of wall and 3 square metres of floor tiling)
Thanks.
Harry.
Hi All
Just a thought. Have any of you been asked by customers why the materials are so expensive?
I generally offer the materials (usually using Bal, granfix, palace or similar) at a rate less than the customer would pay if he were to walk into topps tiles, but at a higher rate than I would...
