Hi,
Need to choose a grout for the above. For the black floor tiles 300x600 am thinking either Mapei black or Larson colourfast anthracite (as have bag of this available) if the Mapei is too black. The floor tiles themselves aren’t jet black so the Mapei black might be too black though do like...
Hello, i am looking for baby blue metro tiles for my bathroom, possibly piscina brisalado brillo STD 017942. Found recently a perfect match ( SKU 1002160 from Spanish factory Salcamar), but no longer available. Anything matching would be welcome.
Hello, I am looking for some advice on how to set out my tiles. I think I have a solution but looking for second opinions/better solutions.
I have a window off centre in my bathroom which I am wall tiling with bevelled metro tiles. If I centre from the window I get uneven cuts at each end and...
Hi,
I'm sorry its another bad job or not thread.
We've been having our downstairs toilet renovated using a local plumbing company who employ and external tiler to do any tiling work. Throughout it has felt rushed- and I have had doubts regarding the mitring of the tile border in particular-...
Hi all - had a bit of a nightmare tiling our bathroom. We prioritised getting a full tile immediately below the window and thought we’d get away with it at the top, but we’ve now got to the top and are left with a slither of a tile above the window - see photo.
Is there any advice on how best...
I have approx 14sqm of 200 x 100 ceramic metro tiles to grout, tiles are 6mm thick with 2mm spacers.
Would a 5kg bag of grout (Mapei Keracolor) cover it? I've used a couple of grout calculators online which say I need less than 5kg but this just doesn't look enough to me?
Have to order this...
Hi! Could I get some advice on my tiling? It's just been done last week by a tiler by trade but my builder who does everything says that he could have done a neater job and that he's surprised by the level of finish and pointed out some clumsy areas.
I'm now worried that my tiler did a bad job...
Hi I’d be very grateful for advice. I had a bathroom fitted a couple of months ago and have just noticed that many of the metro tiles have spidery cracks in them. There is no pattern to them - some cracks run up through a couple of tiles but they’re not all adjacent. I’m sure they weren’t there...
I'm taking on my first tiling job in my utility room. Planning to just tile around the worktop area with metro tiles.
I know Metros arent the easy ones to start with but they are bought now so onward we go. Got all the tools and the tiles etc.
Started measuring out and had a bit of a confidence...
Tiling kitchen splashback, but I've messed up the layout. Should I rip out the tiles on the window sill? Or do I just about get away with it? It kindof looks like the tilesnin the window sill are 3D bricks.
Done quite a phew tiling DIY jobs in the past, so this is noty first time. I just messed...
Hi all, tiling my kitchen and I am upto the window. what the best way to finish where the tiles turn in toward the window. These are metro /subway tiles and have beveled edges, so will vary in thickness where they are cut at the window recess - what is the best trim to use or is it possible to...
Hi, first post and a question about Metro tiles. Never used these before but I'm thinking about the corners. Is it correct to assume that, for the full length tiles, I should remove the natural 'bevel' before cutting the 45 degree 'bevel' for the corners?
Advice please on setting out bevelled metro tiles in particular situations.
1. For internal corner should you set out to avoid finishing with a full tile in corner when using brick bond? Concerned how the silicon bead might look as one row full tile thickness next row thinner as just bevel...
Hello this is my first post!
I’m planning to refit my bathroom. The plan is to get rid of the bath and replace with 2 sinks! The sinks are on a metal washstand with the waste going into the wall via a chrome bottle trap. Do I tile the wall prior to fitting the sinks or after? My only worry about...
If poking spacers in between metros (leaving them sticking out the front) is it better to remove them before the adhesive has set rather than trying to pull them out the next day after compression?
If so is there a good way to tell when is safe to do without the tiles moving?
Hi guys,
I want to do put metro tiles on a wall in my office to emulate a London Underground station look. I'm using regular metro tiles 10cmx20cm, and I'm wondering what size the grout should be. Everybody on the forum recommends 2mm, but I'm wondering if 3mm would more closely emulate the look...
Hello. Not certain I can ask this here but had a browse and it seems many of you dislike trims with bevilled edge metro tiles. Sadly we can't avoid this any more because of a sink/sill issue. Would you share your opinion about what might be out best option for trim please? If it helps we have...
Morning All,
Just finished a average size bathroom with metro tiles and light grey grout, I am happy with the job but I am concerned how long it took to grout almost 2 days, this seems far to much time, can I speed things up? Any ideas welcome.
Thanks
hi, doing a diy job of filing our kitchen using metro tiles for b&q. We have started and have used the 4mm tile spacers but now we’ve realised that we probably should’ve used smaller. Is it going to look awful? Has anyone use 4mm before?
We’ve chosen anthracite tiles and white grout. Should we...
Hi,
I am new to the forum so apologies if this has been raised before. We are having a bathroom reno but we are unhappy with the finish round the window and looking for suggestions. The trim as you can see from the photos just sticks out at the end. We have been told there is not a great deal...
