Hi,
I have an aluminium expansion joint running through 600x600mm porcelain tiles, my question is whether its best to butt the tiles against the aluminium edge or to allow a 3mm gap for grout either side of the exp. joint.
My grout is a dark grey colour and aesthetically i think it would look...
This is a kitchen splashback that Gary did with me in Hoxton East London.
2400 X 800 x 6mm porcelain from the casadolcecasa magnum range, Calacatta.
No joints except for the corners, definitely something that could catch on I believe.

Good evening,
I'm about to pull my last few hairs out!!!! I have just grouted a bathroom with BAL micromax 2 gunmetal grout, I have never had a problem with it until now!! The tiles were glazed porcelain. I went in today after grouting yesterday, and the grout is very very patchy! The colour is...
Hi Everyone,
I had a contractor in to do some renovations and although he told me he was good at tile, I unfortunately have been left with some issues after the fact.
See attached pictures, the metal edging he used is not level with the top edge of the tile. Also, some of the tiles on the face...
Morning,
Will try and keep as brief as possible.
Have recently undertaken a barn conversion and have had a ground-source heat pump installed with UFH. I have been concerned for quite some time that the floor doesn't feel warm, despite the UFH being turned on. I have the room thermostats set a...
hi guys
recently had a new bathroom tiled in our new loft conversion . Tiles were laid on top of ply but were told latex would be put underneath to level the floor? There was definitely something put down before adhesive that was left overnight. But now it's finished the tiles are not level at...

It is only a matter of time before my wife strolls past, looks over my shoulder and notices "Chinese Lady Dates" or "Russian whatever" or "Ukranian Wives". I'm getting scared of looking at a tiling forum just in case:oops:. Have tilers been identified as a target group for this type of...
Had to take the car for an mot today, use a particular one about 6-7 miles where a guy I've known for years does it and have a general chat.
Parked the car outside in there parking area waiting for the tester, no problems until he (the tester) drove the car to test the brakes when one of the...
...bit of a who dunnit but feel I've been shafted royal style on this one.
Working for a joiner (so called) who's customer had asked him if he could get me in to tile a newly fitted kitchen and stripped out bathroom.
Me to supply tiles, adhesive etc.
Didn't want anything fancy, infact didn't...

Only my opinion but it seems a shame that there are a lot of members who never seem to post but are very quick to put their details in the directory.
Hard to word the title really, but essentially here is the issue....
The measuring bar on my new sigma is 'off centre'.....see photos...
Basically if I put a 400mm tile on the cutter with 200mm to the left of 0 and 200mm to the right, when I score & snap, the left piece is 199mm whilst the...
Hi people!! Just been to look at another little job (I'm quite new to this!) only a cloakroom, walls up to halfway. Under their washbasin they have boxed in the waste pipe using what looks like green caberdeck floor boarding. It's only 350mm high X 150mm deep and 1300 long. Would you guys backer...
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone could jog my memory on a measuring technique I was shown a while ago. The problem i have is that I'm tiling up to an internal corner where the adjacent wall is very nearly, but not quite plumb. I went on a tiling course not long ago where I was shown a...
This bathroom was tiled 2 years ago. Water has been leaking into the kitchen for the past 6 months. Customer said it was re plastered before tiling but as you can see it wasn't.
The wooden window cills were left in and tiled over.
Ive just spoken to a plasterer on phone and he says 250 plus mats...
Hi guys,
Installed some encaustic looking tiles from Topps today, 45x45 with a pre scored grout joint in the middle to make them look like genuine encaustic. Question is, do I grout this joint as it seems a little shallow to me (also they are 2mm so had to make my joints 2mm but can't see how...
This is the greatest forum in the world EVER..... [Now thats the arse kissing out the way] I do occasionally find myself wandering of to diynot.com to see if I can offer my two pennies worth to people who might need it.

Hi.
I am pricing a small bathroom. It has been refurbished with new chipboard flooring. Do I need to use a backer board or will flexible adhesive cope? There's not much movement and the new boards are level. There are two steps into the bathroom so a doorway is not affected by levels. Advice...
