I keep coming across t&g chipboard bathroom floors - normal for 1st floors on newbuilds, but the bathroom floors are painted / sprayed either green or grey.
This isn't the same as the P5 graded green boards where you can still see the wood fibre in the colour. Instead these are coated / sprayed...

Tiling onto a painted wall ,will do tape test and then if paint comes off sand and score the wall, would you then seal the wall before tiling or will it be ok just to...
I've a customer wanting me to tile over his old bathroom tiles. I've done this often enough before where the tiles are secure enough, but these ones have been painted with tile paint.
I'd guess that at the very least the paint will have to be removed, though I guess most of you will tell me to...
i know it is a no no tiling on painted surfaces but ive done a few jobs lately where ive removed tiles which have been on 20 odd years and underneath have been painted surfaces. Once ive got the first few tiles off they do tend to come off a lot easier but they have still been on 20 years. i...

Just wondered what you'd do?
I'm faced with painted plasterboard walls (dot n dabbed). The paint (2 layers) has been well keyed and doesn't pull off at all with the duck-tape test.
There are so many stray pipes and cables behind the boards that I am loathe to drill, plug and screw backer...

I want to tile a painted (smooth screeded) garage floor as the garage is now used as a utilty type room. It was painted a few years ago using red "International Garage Floor Paint".
My questions are:
1. Would 300x300 porcelin tiles be a good choice (because of their strength)? I also want to...
Tiling a kitchen, above the work surface is new plastered plastered board (gypsum based) that has been freshly painted with soft sheen emulsion over 70% of the area to be tiled. The remaining 30% is just unpainted new plaster.
Do I need to PVA it all>?
gonna be starting a job at the weekend where some of the concrete (i think) wall has what looks like vinyl emulsion or a thin coat of gloss.
at first i thought score it, sand it and prime it but now im not so sure?
be a real pain if it needs removed!:mad2:
any ideas? :huh2:
Is it possible to tile directly onto gloss painted floor boards?
The floor in question is in great condition with no deflection at all and the customer does not want to raise the level by boarding.
If I score up the paint well and use something like BAL BOND do you think I'll get away with it...
Hi, quick question lads and lasses....
bathroom walls, previously tiled on what looks like emulsioned walls. walls have now been sanded down...

Sorry for what probably is a basic question...
