Starting a job tomorrow, the walls are made of a plaster board with a cement coating, the customer tells me its called fiber board. I have never heard of this before, and was wondering if it needs priming. Any help is appreciated.
i am laying porcelain tiles using kerriquick and latex , i have boards screwed onto floorboards at 100m spaces, these are 12mm boards and are clean and dry, do i prime them and what with , i normally use pva , but have not used mapei before , please advise

is it ok to prime walls and then leave two weeks before tiling. the reason i ask is because im gona have a spare hour or 2 to do it and it will just give me a head start when i come to do the tiling>?

I am laying tiles on asphalt floor which will be primed and then laying slc,so my question is do i lay the slc as soon as i have primed the floor or do i have to wait until it sis just slightly tacky.

just wondering what self priming adhesives are on offer out their(know weber do one) was thinking its probably cheaper to buy a self priming adhesive than primer and adhesive.
hi all. very confused ot the mo'. just been looking thru' a bal technical data sheet and it suggests NOT priming a ply wall prior to tiling. I've always thought that that's what MUST be done???????:banghead:

I've recently recommended to a customer that before tiling his kitchen I'd strip the paint off the walls as its not the best idea to tile onto paint, & I wont guarantee the work if I'm tiling onto paint of course he didn't like the idea of this as it would cost more.

The screed I'm soon to tile on has been repaired using sand and cement mix where pipework has been altered, and is a bit crumbly.
Would it be best to prime with SBR prior to fixing tiles?

I prime most substrates is this the best option or am I wasting myself priming. Also how long does it take for the primer to go off. Are two coats required? Whats the best tool to apply the primer to large areas?
