Hi
I’ve removed old tiles in my house and there is the old adhesive behind it.
In some cases it fell off when I was taking off the tiles.
I’m not sure whether to take this off or not, would you have any advise on the best way to remove this please?
We are planning on getting in a tiler to...
Hi there,
I'm in need of advice for how to remove split face stone tiles. As there's no grout between the tiles, what is the best way to remove them with minimal damage to the wall.
I've just moved into a house with these tiles next to the kitchen sink and I can see splatters of food in the...
Hello all!! Great to be back here after a long while away!! My situation is: I have lifted some old lino tiles (asbestos free, got them tested!) and am now faced with a kitchen floor covered in this soft black adhesive (goes quite malleable when heated with a heat gun but very sticky) and I...
Hello everyone, new to the forum, nice to meet you. A tiler recommended to bring this question over here, they tell me we have a problem they've not seen in 30 years of tiling! Our London house was built circa 1900's, the hallway has its original tiles still which we'd like to restore.
The...
Having a bit of a nightmare here.
I fitted 12.5mm wedi thin bed cement mortar over ply covered stud walls. Taped all joins etc. Tiled. Grouted but the grout I used scratched the surface of my tiles.
I've removed the tiles, the wedi obviously got damaged so I've removed that which was all fun...
I've just had a go at regrouting a small area of my bathroom wall, and though not perfect the new grouting looks pretty good. Unfortunately, in the process of removing the old grouting with a Makita multi-tool, I scratched three of the tiles, one of which now stands out like a sore thumb bearing...
The grout in my bathroom was very old and dirty and I successfully buzzed it all out of the straight, flat lines with a Dremel tool using its carbide blade attachment. However, I can't seem to find the right blade, attachment or tool that will help me get the grout out of the 90 degree corners...
Hi all. Looking for some expert help now I have some time on my hands during lockdown. I took up the Victorian Minton tiles on my hallway a few years ago during a renovation as everything was uneven and needed relayed. I managed to recover around 80% of them which I now plan to use in another...
Hi All
I have just removed the ceramic tiles from my kitchen floor and they have applied the tile adhesive directly to the original floor boards. can anyone advise the best way to remove the old tile adhesive from the floor boards please.
a builder has attempted to tile a floor with 800 x 800 porcelain tiles. no expansion joints, no anti fracture matting no back buttering... well as you can imagine the floor has failed. ive removed all the tiles, but the adhesive is a barsteward to remove. what machine would you recommend for...
Following repair of a chip in white polished porcelain tile, I have found that the small area that was rubbed down has dulled slightly and has very fine scratches, only really visible under certain lights and angle.
Is there any way of removing the scratches and bringing back the shine to the...
Started ripping out some shower/wet wall panels in our bathroom to discover two layers of tiles before reaching the brickwork..man it's tough to get of!
Thinking the best way to go is strip it back to the brickwork before fitting a backer board? Seems like the plasterboard above the tile level...
Hello, I'm looking for some advice quite urgently. To explain: I recently pulled up some faux-laminate flooring strips that had been stuck down over a lovely old ceramic tiled floor. This floor covering must have been stuck down with an industrial strength impact adhesive and, as such, has left...
I’ve been asked to clean up a bodged grout job.
The floor is large approximately 135m2 so the customer doesn’t want it all raking out and regrouting( in some places I’ll have to) what’s the best way to clean hardened grout of tiles ( see a few example pictures of what I’m dealing with generally)
I've been to look at a screed part of which is 20mm higher than the rest . Easy option screed up , but that's going to take £700 of levelling .
So options I see .
Grind it , score/cut into sections with disc cutter and kango or take that piece of screed right out .
Any bright ideas and options...
Evening good people. I have a major issue with roughly 200sqm of porcelain floors grouted by my now very much ex apprentice. I have a serious amount of residue left on the face of the tiles. The kid was doing fine while I was watching over him but when I left him alone, well its all gone to...
Hi all
Just been reading up on the above and it looks like I should have sanded the floor down a bit sooner - no one advised that it should be done after a couple of weeks
Floor has been down a good while now and has a good surface I think - its not crumby at all but hey may as well do a...
Got a floor sander coming in from a hire company next week to clean up a gyvlon base prior to tiling.
I've never done this myself before, it's always been done by builders etc. The hire company are unsure of exactly what pads/discs to supply with the machine. Anyone got any ideas?
