We are redoing our bathroom and had a long discussion on tanking with our handyman who does minor plumbing and tiling.
We have asked him to tank around the bath and shower areas.
He has been saying that if grouting is properly applied then there is no need for tanking as grouting is moisture...
Hi guys, I have a couple of questions related to tiling a hearth and the surrounding walls around a large wood burning stove. The walls around the stove will be done with thin stone cladding and the hearth will be done with either sandstone or limestone 35mm slabs. Can I use regular tile...
I once worked with a tiler. Who when tiling straight to plasterboard he would seal it as he said if any moisture got behind the tiles the paper could come off the front of the boards obviously effecting the tiles. Is this true? He used to seal it with I'm sure PVA, though I've heard this...

Hi all,
I have recently had my bathroom floor tiled with marble, and the tilers used Weber.color art for the grout.
Unfortunately it seems very susceptible to staining, so I would like to redo the grout.
I am decently handy but have never grouted before, so I am looking for an easy to use grout...
Hi.
I'm just wondering, in your experience which are the best mould resistant Silicon sealants?
I used one to sort the tired Silicon in our shower about six months ago and already it has a speck of mould, so I don't want that to happen with the brand new shower that I'm installing.
So, have...
Hi guys,
I'm in the process of redoing the bathroom. I've removed everything including tiles and found that the plaster is hollow and loose to the brick on 2 walls. So I'm gonna remove back to bare brick on these 2 walls, tank the plasterboard and attach to the walls.
I just wanted some...

Got a wet room to tile inside the shower area and I'm unsure which substrate to use either Hardie backer board or moisture resistant plasterboard, two walls r brickwork one wall is studded
I was just wondering what people use as a good heat resistant time adhesive for slate tiles, possibly got a small area of 6m² to do
Topps do one for £25 for approx 4m²
Thanks

Hi there
I am new to this and I would just appreciate a little bit of advice. I have searched various forums and cement manufacturing companies who claim that chipboard flooring can be tiled on as long as the floor does not move, there are no gaps and that boards are screwed at 300MM intervals...
Any recommendation on a heat proof tile adhesive? I'm tilling around my fireplace with slate tiles but the fire gets very hot. Will any decent flexi adhesive work ok? thanks
Hey up again.
A friend is doing his own plasterboarding prior to the tiling,
I was wondering if he should get some moisture resistant boards for the shower and bath wall, - it will be receiving mapegum as aswell. Will this be a pointless overkill?
