I’ve got a sill and recessed shelf to tile but will it work with this shape of tile?
Hi all,
This forum has offered some fantastic help so far, and I'm hoping I can get a quick answer to the next question!
I have our split face tiles here now, and they are going up on Saturday afternoon.
Should I seal them (back and front) before they are installed?
And what is the best...

Hi guys,
Anyone had experience with quartz split face tiles to be used on a solid blockwork wall which has been rendered and painted previously, but I plan to score the surface for maximum adhesion. Any advice on what adhesive to use? Don't particularly want to go down the hardie board route for...
We have just had fitted a full wall in Nepal gold slit face stone, the tiler has got a lot of tile cement on the face of these, I don't want to clean with brick cleaner because of the gold flake on the face, I tried water and a sponge but the tiles return back to white haze.
I was told it can...
What adhesives is everyone using for feature walls of split face tiles particularly when it’s behind a wood burner.
Would standard flexible adhesive be suitable as having concerns regarding the radiant heat

Hi all,
I have a load of split face tiles to go into a kitchen wall. I took off the old ceramic ones which have been there since the 60s i think. The cement stuff they were put on with isn't steaming or scraping off, it's pretty solid. I don't think it's adhesive as such. I'm wondering if I can...
Hello everyone, thanks for letting me join here!
I'm after some advice on split face tiles (the ones glued together rather than webbed backing) as I've never put them up before. My other half wants a strip about 4' wide, floor to ceiling, to surround a wall mounted electric fire. They will be...
Hi, looked at a couple split face jobs recently where the customers want them to wrap around the chimney breast.
I would usually fit a solid strip (wood or trim) to the edges to avoid mitring. This didnt go down to well and i havent heard from them since....
Just curious to everyone elses...
Hi, Just wondering if I should use a heat resistant adhesive for tiling a fire place feature wall. It isn't an open fire, just a fitted gas fire that doesn't make the surround too hot. If I do use a heat resistant adhesive just as a belt and braces solution, which ones are the best for fixing...
Done a feature wall in split face, customer was dead happy with it. I've sealed it using fila pt10 wet look colour enhancer, which is the look he wanted. Any way he calls me up saying it's gone much lighter and the colour isn't as dark now. This is I've a week later. I'm thinking of getting some...
Hi, was just looking for some tips on how to get the best finish on an external corner using the split face mosaic slate. I have used it on a single wall but never had to return it around an external corner. It will be tricky due to the varying thickness of the slate and was just wondering if...
Hi all,
A customer is asking me to mitre split face tiles on a window wall , into the reveal to meet with a porcelain tile. I don't fancy my chances due to the differing depth of the split face (slate) tiles but just wanted to throw it out there in case anyone has any advice ? Cheers
Got a feature wall in split face stone tiles to do. Trouble is the tiles are different sizes which create unsightly gaps, more than usual. What's best way to avoid this without cutting every tile with the grinder? Im wedging gaps here and there but still get the odd 4/5mm gap, cheers
Been asked to quote for fixing split face slate to an outside wall . First thought is a definite no as it can't be grouted . The wall does have a 750mm overhanging roof
Hi, I have to lay some split face interlocking tiles in a bathroom. They are supposed to be laid without spacers tight to each other so there will be no grouting. However there bound to be still some small gaps between tiles - how can I make it waterproof?
Also, with the split face tiles...

Good morning. Just a quick question regarding the tiles in the picture. I've fixed split face stone tiles before (not in wet area) and haven't grouted them. The tiles in the picture are a ceramic split face style tile from wickes. They will require grouting I assume due to them being a ceramic...
