Hi,
Im tiling the bottom third of the bathroom wall in a straight herringbone (where the tiles are horizontal and vertical rather than on a 45 degree). Im just wondering where to start to make sure the patter doesnt look odd, start in the middle as normal and work out or start in the top corner...
I just unboxed my first proper tile cutter and tried a few cuts on some spare tiles. (BIG CLINKER)
It works ok but the cuts aren't exactly straight. I would say they wave/vary up to 1mm to 2mm on a long cut (30cm). Most often they are curving one way toward the middle of the cut and then...
Hi there, been cutting 800 x 300 porcelain tile square cuts no problem for my bathroom walls however struggling to cut hex porcelain tiles corner to corner. The last 20 to 30mm breaks away from the score line. I checked the score and it does look or feel any different where the break veres...
Read in some other forum that some people skim the Aquapanel with tile adhesive then paint the tanking paste on.
I've ot one of the Mapei tanking kits to tank a shower area. Thought you could just paint it onto the Aquapanel initially.
what do people use as a straight edge when you need one longer than a 6 or 8 ft level if any?
I was wondering if a portable straight edge exists or does anyone have a home made version.
Saw a few videos on Instagram from some Canadian tilers laying large format floor tiles with long metal...
Hi I joined and posted on this forum little while ago regarding our bathroom and ensuite wetroom designs - you guys were really helpful and your input really helped us improve the design and make sure the builders have prepared the room correctly. The rooms are nearly formed so we're getting...
Morning tool geeks,
I've a porcelain floor to remove from around a very expensive kitchen this week and I'm looking for a high quality diamond multi tool blade that will cut through porcelain enough to enable me to break out corner pieces from around units.
or does anyone have a different...
Hi all!
Late last year I decided I wanted a new bathroom installed. I spent a few weeks selecting all the different items I wanted for my bathroom. I found a local tradesmen who assured me he was able to fit bathrooms and tile and I basically listened. I don't have much experience when it comes...
hi
I bought 200mm by 500mm Argenta Camargue Perla ceramic tiles and Bal Grip plus tub... to find out the Bal Grip plus isn't up to the job because of the size of the the tiles. I see from other threads there is a more 'professional look' way to lay tiles, so we are not sure how to lay them...

Hi,
I'm a first time DIY tiler and have almost finished tiling my bathroom walls with 600 X 300 floor to ceiling, but I've hit a snagging point... I've got a floor to ceiling external corner which isn't straight by quite a long way. I want to use straight edge trim, but am really not confident...
Hi all, i have removed all the tiles in bathroom and had it skimmed. Before i done this i noted that one of the walls, the bath/shower corner is not plumb.
As you can see from the photo of previous tiling job they started with a fall tile against the wall by the bath and as it gets higher they...
Hi guys,
Is there a technique other than a steady hand to getting straight long cuts using a grinder. Also mitres I've seen a set up of a 45deg angle block and cut freehand but only on small cuts.
Trying to make a decision on whether to upgrade to a cordless grinder and batteries or to spend...
I've been on a job today and there has been a lad fitting kahndean flooring, multiroom, about 40m, anyway, been watching his prep as floor was bad, today he's been using these straight edges that are made of thin metal that roll up into a small roll, he had about 4 of them, from 2m to longest...
I am about to embark on tiling my bathroom floor and looking for a bit of advice. I have tiled a couple of floors before but always onto concrete and have gathered that upstairs floors need some different considerations. The house was built in 2013. The floor is solid and even. I am not 100%...
Hello everyone. I had another splash back job today so this morning i was scratting
around for a straight edge to fix to the wall. I ended up finding a bottom slider off a set
of sliding sliding wardrobes i removed the other week. It worked an absolute treat. It was 2.3m
long light and...
