Hi all,
Im about to start tiling a bathroom in slate. Now the walls had a thin plaster skim, and that started coming off, so I stripped it back to a sandy cement render that has been applied to the (breeze block) wall. The surface is quite sandy and can do dusted off, but im guessing it...
I have a problem guys. I'm tiling a bathroom and one of the walls has that formica type paneling that cannot be removed.
Do you know of any primer that would allow me to tile to this type of surface
Me again.
I have three triangular surfaces that I need to do, but am not sure what I'm doing.
Here's how it used to be (my black lines added to make it easier to see previous layout).
However, I'm not using 15x15cm tiles, but 20x25cm. How do I start to get my head around this. Do I cut the...
I have just removed tiles from my bathroom walls and have ended up with a right mess. Some tiles came away with all the plaster leaving exposed render. Other tiles left bare plaster and the rest (most) of the tiles left generous amounts of adhesive on the walls. I have stripped away any unsound...
Hi there,
I have a leaking shower cubicle and am attempting to put it right. For a number of reasons, including the fit of the hinged door, I will be fitting new ceramics over old ceramics.
I appreciate all of the comments about avoiding tiles over tiles but I am stuck with this option and I...

I'm 1/3 of the way through redoing my Mum's bathroom for her. I'm using 9" x 18" unfilled Travertine on the horizontal in a brickwork pattern.
I have some substantial boxed in pipes and a wall which protrudes at a...
Hi All
Looking at a job where underfloor heating is required and probably thermal boards if the customer is happy.
The surface is concrete, fairly level and flat but a typical rough concrete finish.
Should i need to run a thin slc over to get the concete smooth if using thermal boards or will...
Looking for some advice from the tiling pro's..
Fitting a large amount of natural stone and most of it is onto backer board or new plaster board, some jobs coming up are fresh plaster and painted walls.
The last time I had one tile come loose I had primed the walls with PVA watered down but...

Hi All,
first time posting on here and doing so cause there seem to be a lot of people that know about tiling. And I don't.
My question may seem a little complicated but please, do bear with me.
The details:
1. Removed four loose tiles on wall behind bath front, with...
The title says it all and it's me I'm moaning about. :mad2:
The tiles are travertine 300mm square with square cut edges and are of uniform thickness. I'm using a topps tile solid thin bed trowel with 6 by 10mm notches. I butter the back of each tile but scrape off any excess adhesive and put...
hi- new member here-
We are dealing with a vast expanse of installed kiln-dried terracotta tiles, which are not laid evenly enough, and we wish to take off the high points and smooth the surface. Can someone recommend a method? Would a wet- polisher work? What type of disks could be used? Thanks!

I'm soon to be laying tiles on a cement screed floor. I've done these before without problems.
However there are some CH pipes that are buried in the floor. These are quite close to the surface. When the old lino was down you could feel the heat via the floor!
I'm concerned about adhesive...
Today I had a chat with the customer who wants a wetroom installed, regarding drainage.
We need to know the typical depth of the 40mm run out from the gulley below the surface of the former.
I am looking at the Tilux 900x 1200 former on Wetdec's site. We haven't got much in the way of room...
Evening all, I have got to quote for a kitchen floor 600x600 porcaline. Problem being is that the floor is part concrete (with lots of ady from the previous jobs) and some tiles still there! The other half is chipboard.
Obviously I need the floor to be as flat as possible when laying...
hi guys,
got a job starting monday in a new build housing scheme(was newly built about 4 years ago) and the customer wants his existing bath to now have a shower. So, i only need to fix tiles to the top half of the wall around the bath as obvioulsy the bottom half is already tiled.
The area...
I've spent some time reading this forum and thanks to everyone who has posted for the information I've found really useful so far.
I have the following dilemma and would like some feedback from the experts.
I'm currently completely refurbing my bathroom, the walls are back to bare brick, apart...
Hi Guys
Is there any prep needed to painted plasterboard before tiling onto it, and do you need to prep bare plasterboard with anything before tiling onto it.?
For a floor that has been sheeted over with a thin ply is there any sealer needed before tiling?
Thanks
John
Hi all
We bought our house about a year ago and this job has been looming for some time. We have floor to ceiling white porcelain tiles with a slightly uneven surface. I think whoever put these on hailed from deadwood and it looks like they never even tried to clean the excess grout off. I...
