2 level floor

Just doing a quote for a kitchen floor that has been extended. There is a height difference between the old chipboard and some very lumpy concrete( the concrete is about 10mm above the chipboard). I was going to overlay the chipboard with plywood then level the concrete with latex until i get the required height.

Is this the right way to go as i have never attempted anything like this before:huh2: ? PS Good to be back on the forum and back into tiling after my honeymoon.

Your prep methods for the floor will be fine...make sure you put an expansion joint exactly over the point where the two substrates meet...try and start with a full tile at this point if you can, then it will look neater than putting a joint in the middle of a tile.....

Thanks for the advice guys, what type of expansion strip will i need do you think? PS marriage isn't that bad!

hi mate you can either use a Silicon expansion joint ( minimum 6mm).colour to match grout..
or you can use a manufactured expansion joint..schluter do some great joints and they come with coloured inserts to match tiles or grout...
