i'm starting a job in a few weeks. Its 26sq mtres and the customer has seen these tiles that are 60+60, 30+30 and 60+30. Because its a large area he wants a mix of sizes arranged so there is no long grout lines. He would also like as many of the 60+60s as possible and so many of the smaller tiles!

is there a pattern to go off for this of do i just randomly put them down as i go!

also should i draw his room scaled down on some graph paper and plan it all out so i know how many of each size to order?

or is there an easier solution to all of this?:mad2:

there are sites with diagrams on, but I'm on the wrong laptop tonight but I'm sure you'll be pointed in the right direction by somebody

I have found that they come in a box as one pattern, the trouble with buying seperates is make sure the joints are all going to be the same, usualy 3mm

Cheers! i'm still not convinced there is a pattern for the 3 sized tiles i have for the broken groutline look! i think its gonna have to be random.

it says to order 60% of the larger tiles and 40% of the other 2 sizes!!!
i'm not sure how that works out, but i'll check i can get a refund on any unused tiles!

Hi Tactile

I had the same prob a while ago the tile shop gave me some patterns but thought they all looked wrong. So I had a little play and this was the pattern I came up with. I know the tiles are smaller but the principle is the same. Hope this helps

Sorry Doug I didn't think my language was that bad. Slap on the back of the hand for me :dizzy2: I will watch my p's and q's in the future

when you've decided on your pattern, dry lay a few first to get the best joint spacing, I've done odular patterns, esp with natural stone, where I've had to have as thin a joint as possible to ake sure that the joints don't creep:thumbsup:
