5mm porcelain

has anyone come across the so called super porcelain which is 5mm thick.

Havent used it myself but a few others have. Gary The Tiler being a main user.

I did some 6 months ago for a customer which i had big reservations about.

You could basically snap them with your hands but the customer was adament of having them.

I put then onto a 6mm hardie board in a brick pattern and they have never cracked or had any issues with.

On a true solid bed and the back of the tile skimmed the adhesive becomes part of the tile so in theory increases the thickness of the tile.

I suppose a 10mm tile installed badly with voids would give more issues.

Though still will not reccommend them

the only tip you will need is to ensure a solid bed with a top quality flexible adhesive other than that you will be fine they cut lovely are light to work with so you will be fine

I would imagine when setting them,you would need to conscious of pressure points, a bit like dot dabbing plasterboard with hands instead of straight edge? I wouldn't want to tap one with my mallet either. Do you need to use a slightly loose mix gary?
