6 mm ply?

Hi guys newbie here ,i have got a tiling job to do a joiner has put down 6mm ply on old floorboards with ring shanks can i put another 6mm of ply on top of this and screw it before i put 600x600 porcelins down?
Or will i have to rip it up and put 12mm down?

no that wont work as the two plys will move independant of each other not as one

it doesnt matter how many fixings you fire in

screws are a better job than ring shanks

6mm ply isn't moisture stable for starters and also when you screw there will possibly be voids between the sheets and the first sheet to the substrate..

Your choice.. we can only advise..

Steer well clear of 6mm ply - whether WBP or not :mad2:

Don't let anyone tell you they've done it hundreds of times with no bother

Whip it up and put the thicker stuff down 18mm would be best but 12mm at the absolute thinnest, but make sure the underlying floorboards are solidYou'll be happier in the long run:hurray:

Thanks for the replies guys,have tiled for years but im a plasterer to trade and i always put 12mm down,i just thought there was a chance i could double up .
Thats why i registered on here as each to there own i knew i would get right advise .
It will be getting ripped up .
