6 square metres of bathroom

Have 6 square metres of bathroom to tile with moderately large 13" x 8" tiles.
Would £160 sound about right? (before materials).

Spot on. I always add 10% for buying materials, I after all have to run around getting them.

No. I know some tilers who add on 50%!! I just go for 10%, because 1, it reflects in a quote against some one else's quote, and 2, I'm not a money mad tiler!!!.

I only give them 10% off materials(inc tiles)If I'm using my money,time and petrol I want paying for it,their grateful to be getting 10% off,they wouldn't get any discount if it wasn't for me.You can make good money paying for and fetching materials.

26.66m2 thats good money and you should be able to tile in a day then go back and grout up next day.Yes give them a discount but dont give all your discount away as its not good business sense.

I was on about adding money on for materials, not gicing a discount. was just wondering what, if there is one, the general rule was for pricing on materials.

When adding money on for materials you simply go to the place your getting them and find out the price of everything you need then phone the customer to tell them the price say £200,tell them if you want you to get the materials for them you can get it for £180.You'll then probably make about £50 for buying the materials with your full discount.Thats how I make money for buying and fetching tiles and materials.

Never buy the materials for someone unless your making money out of it,suppose you could charge about £15 for fetching them.Can't imagine a customer saying 'Yeah go and pay for my tiles and charge me an extra 10% for paying for them!'

I make alot of money on tiles if they buy them from the shop I recommend. I get 10% off my next materials. I am running a business, not a charity. It's my time, petrol, insurance etc. All walks of life have perks, why can't tilers?

One of the tiles shops i use give me forms so when somebody wants tiles, i fill the form in with there name and address and my trade account number, so they see the retail price and i get the discount, some tiles i get 25% off. work very well
