Just completed a 600mm x 600mm job, 37m2 kitchen floor, for a customer I had tiled a conservatory 8yrs ago, they had lost my tel no. the kitchen fitter told them that his bro in law was a tiler,the cusomer ( steve,) met the "tiler" on site and took him into the conservatory, will my kitchen floor look as good,if not better than this? he asked. the "tiler" turned bright red and started making noises about the difficulty of 600 x 600 porcelain. Steve then rang a local tile shop and got my tel no. The "tiler in the meantime had put a price together quoting for 18m2 , then rang back to say he might have got his sums wrong.After a remeasure he told them it was 30m2.By this time I had measured and got it to 37m2,Steve had placed the tile order already for a full pallet,(35m2) sure enough I was 2m2 short. Steve paid me for job well done and confided in me that the 1st "tilers" price he thought was to dear, but I was £800.00 more expensive. He was so pleased with the finished job he gave me a £40.00 tip.You get what you pay for. All the best, Half a mill Phil.
