i had a simular job recently 600mm sq porcelain tiles 25m2 a hall running into bathroom and utility all priced it at £600 including all mats but floor was already screeded and level take me 3 days but in northern ireland,are prices are not as high as england but still a resonable return for 3 days work!

I agree totally.

The tiles aren't from B & Q, but a reputable company of quality tiles.

I personally wouldn't be able to do 24m2 through 3 rooms in 2 or 3 days inc grouting & sealing, probably 4, So i guess maybe I should have based it on my day rate & gone in a little lower.

I guess i could just be up against faster fixers, & not saying their finish isnt as good, but perhaps i spend too much time trying to be a perfectionist!!
Afterall these tiles do show up the smallest of imperfections if not level.

Peegee your quote was reasonable , the other quote at £500 is a complete and utter joke , some may say better that no work but id change jobs before i would work for that ...

That's why you're better not looking on these pricing threads, they only depress you.

I'd do it in 2 days and probably charge max 450 with materials, wish I lived in England. To be honest, I'm very happy with that for a couple of days work.

Pricing is always going to be a 'discussion' area as there is so many factors that could vary a price.
I have just priced a bathroom with a round trip of 75miles and one and a half hours travelling - so to start I'd be looking at a minimum of £4/metre extra for deisel+.
Despite the fact I was recommended and the customer told me to pencil it in for 14 days time - when he got the estimate (next day) he told me he got his last bathroom done for half my price - fine I said - 'its just an estimate for you to compare thanks for the opportunity to price for your project' -End of story!
Someone will do it for him and he will look at it for another 10+years:lol:
Its when the estimate stop that I will be concerned - till then................

Northern Ireland rates are a joke compared to England/Scotland/wales in places,but rates of pay seem lower over here anyway.i was in Drogheda working on an appartment block 2 years ago getting 33 euro a yd2 ! thought i was in heaven:drool5: until a builder wanted me back north,i near cried,33 euro back to £12 yd2:mad2::mad2::mad2:

for above job id be bout the same maybes a wee bit more for the levelling and sealing, so imho no i dont think your expensive but you need to try and justify your rates, explain whats needed and why it costs so much, on the other hand you could use thick bed addy and levl from that.

just started on monday a 101m2 slate floor, sheera modular slate

went in right away at 40 a m2 plus materials, nice and easy 5 grand for that, dont do day rates, i turn up at 8 and if im finished for the day by 12 then am finished, done day rate once and punter was clock watching me all day

also in same house 2 x 5m2 splashys with 2 sockets each, fine i said £15 per linear foot plus materials, she is very happy with her floor so far and didnt even blink, think that equates to 90 a metre lol

Did you ask to see these other quotes? We had a similar response a few weeks ago so i said show me the quotes and i'll see if i can better them. It turned out that the other company were quoting very differantly to me and the client was only looking at the bottom price. I quoted for priming the floor, sealing the tiles pre-laying and after plus supplying all materials, the other companies price was for fix only with no prep works and that they would leave a tin of sealer for the client to do after it had been laid. I suggested he read the quotes properly and left. I have just finished putting the job right as he asked the others to leave.
If you dont ask you dont get is my view, just talk to the client.

I did the same mate, but had no response back....seems they were set on the cheaper price & that was that!
They knew exactly what i was planning to do as i listed all work to be carried out.....up to them if they go with the cheaper quote, but I just hope for their sake that its all done properly, all i can do is advice.
