Thanks for that link...£17 per hole just for the drill bit, woooow think I might have to up my meterage rate.

Doesn't affect your rate, just charge for holes drilled like I do for porcelain

Good point john, so surely then to include labour on that we must be talking £20+ per hole?

It's all relative Andy. Depends how much you pay for the core drill and how many holes you can get out of the drill. I've got a 50mm core bit from ATS and never had to replace it yet, must have had 15 holes out of it, mixture of ceramic and porc. At £10 per hole it's a tool that's earning me money not costing me

Not as expensive as you may think and I find the bigger, the bit the longer it lasts, only get 3-4 holes out of 6-8mm bits

:drool5:Would scribing the hole and diving in the middle across at various points with an angle grinder n nippers work?

Yes.

I was taught that by tilers on a building site. Its possible to make a very tidy hole using an angle grinder, pin hammer and parrot nibbler (mark hole front and back of tile, angle grind back of tile to remove biscuit close to front surface, use a pin hammer on front at centre of hole to start breaking tile, and nibble when near edges).

Disadvantage - grinder weakens tile around the hole - pack edge of tile with adhesive when fixing.

I like the idea of an investment that's yielding at least a 300% margin, your in the wrong job John...should have been a banker  not many tools in my van that'll pay for themselves and then some..
Notice ATS been on and can't wait for them to get some stock in as gonna need drill bit by weds, tempted on the 365 but nobody bigging them up like the ATS bits...
The guide that comes with the 365 is that just to get you going then remove and use a water feed kit? Sure they wont last long dry??
