A bit of advice from a more experienced tiler

I have tiled loads of bathrooms which I specialise in and is part of my work plumbing and tiling, but I turn down jobs such as the above because it is out of my comfort zone, large floors take a lot of setting out and also accounting for levels. No disrespect to your ability but stick with smaller jobs until you build up your speed, quality, experience and confidence, nothing worse than tackling a job and finding your self struggling and a make a mistake in tiling it could be costly.

Wow thanks for all your advice guys!!!
I have quoted the job and got it starting first week in new year quoted £20 a square metre + materials, i will be getting some help setting out but after that i am on my own, all skirts will be removed i will be using a rapid set addy, it seems 50/50 on wether i use sealer or not wot do you reckon? i am working on the assumption i will be setting 7 sq metres a day so have quoted approx 6 days.

good luck pal and yes you need to use a sealer for polished porcelain especially b&q porcelain anyway good luck with it take your time its a big job for you if your ever in need of any help let me know i only live in preston or there are some other guys on here local to you who would be happy to help

Thanks for your comments lm it`s having such supportive people like urself and others around to look to for help and advice that makes me feel that bit more confident. why do the tiles need sealing?

no problem thats why were here cheap polished porcelain are quite prone to staining i would seal to be on the safe side

polishing porcelain opens up tiny holes that can harbour all sorts, sealing also makes them easier to maintain Hunty

Just done a 18m2 hallway today in b&q 60x60 porcelain today,my back is killing me and the blade on my wet cutter packed up before i had even got to the stairs, had to nip all the notches.

My advice if you can steer clear,as it will probably take double the time you think.

Best of luck in what you decide

Just to add my two pennies worth, I think 6 days is ambitious for this project if you have little experience, certainly if you don't recruit some "experience" to work along side you.

makes a load of sense, you might be looking at the job thinking oh its straight forward, but as you mentioned in your earlier post the floor has lumps in it,these must be taken out/levelled out.and perhaps a more experienced tiler may be able to point out where you might run into other bits of problems.
