Finished NETT course Friday, just finished first two paying jobs, which I got from my best mate who is a plumber. 9m2 floor in slate and a kitchen splashback. The course at NETT was fantastic...... but the real world in customers homes is a million miles away from the classroom lol. The slate was from B & Q, now I know why you all 'slate ' it ( scuse the pun ). Some of it was about 12mm thick and some was about 2mm thick! It wasn't so much out of square, more like each tile was a paralleogram. The splashback tiles were from B & Q as well, just plain white squares, and when I put them in the cutter it was like trying to cut digestive biscuits lol, they just fell apart! I was worried about the slate job, thought I could have maybe done it a bit better, but the customer was raving over it, so what do I know lol...... Yep it sure is different in the real world......but I loved it, especially when they paid me :hurray:
It looks like it can sometimes be hard work tiling, but I dont think its a bad way to make a living
