A little advice please.

If you use minimum 18 wbp ply sael the back and the sides with pva sbr would be better make sure ply front is clean and dust free i would tile straight on i used to tile many displays for a tile showroom never had a problem and the addy was not as good back then come on its only a display plasterboard will only make it heavyer thinking about it you could use 500 backerboard insted of ply

Hi Gisela, Thanks so much for your advice I will take it onboard. I was going to give you a call for advice but just have not had the time. I spoke to you a week or so ago regards mosaic work & hope to see you in the summer at some point. I will get back to you nearer the time but thank you for the kind advice. The peice I have done is my 1st attempt & i've done it in the form of Opus Regulatum as I am not familiar with the cutting methods as yet.

Why dont you just tile a piece of no more ply or hardi-backer and cut to size?

Hi Dave, I was going to use hardi backer but they did not have a piece that would cover the full mosaic. I did not want to have a joint in the middle of the mosaic. I wanted the substrate to be one solid piece. I was told you could get hardi backer in 8x4 sheets which would have been ideal as I could have then cut it down to size but the only ones I could find were approx 1000 x 600 which were to small.
