I have been asked to quote for re-doing a failed kitchen floor and as part of the quote need to price for a complete removal and re-fit of the kitchen.
Before I approach a kitchen fitter though, do you think it's possible to remove and safely reinstall silestone island tops?
This kitchen has two and one has a cut out for the sink.
I'm kind of thinking there is a big risk in them breaking?
Any experience of this?

Shouldn’t be a problem, but will depend on how well they have been fixed on.
They are normally just silicones in place due to the weight.
If you can get to all the edges then run a Fein round and it should come off.
They are pretty strong.

I’ve lifted a big island granite slab, ran a cheese wire thru one end to other first so heavy needed 7 of us to transfer into another room
Sorry Ian I can't believe that....!

You got 7 friends ?...:)

If it were marble chances are it will break. Silestone being quartz is more forgiving though and helpfully lighter (less heavy is probably more accurate) than either marble or granite, even at 30mm thick.

Your biggest issue will be how it's been attached to the cabinet tops, a good installer will have siliconed the entire perimeter of cabinet where the slab touches.

You'll also probably find shims between the top and the cabinet which is levelling the whole top at the joins.

It's possible but it's something I would ask an experienced granite/quartz installation company to perform.
