Accept or reject job?

white has gradually made its way away from Bathrooms since the late 90’s. We used to use it round pans. Clear nowadays.

I would’ve colour matched with the floor grout probably. I’d have to be there to judge. If the gap is perfect I sometimes use clear too.
Colour matched round wall and floor transition and corners, but i always use white for tiles lipping onto trays and baths..

Same for me, white on white. Not for Pans though, I prefer clear.

Same with some of the modular Basin units that have become quite popular this last decade. The resin Basins sit so flat to the wall that I use clear.

Oh, chrome shower screen profiles, clear. Must stop now... had my coffee for the evening 😀

Can I ask what action you have taken with regards to how the job has been finished?

Have you left negative feedback on mybuilder or withheld money because of the poor finish.

Also who is coming back to sort the Silicon for you?

I only ask as these “tradesmen” are now doing the same poor quality work for another customer and probably going to get away with it again.

It’s just not right really.

I’ve not paid the final £1000 yet.

Honestly, I don’t really know what to do or how to handle it. It’s the first time I’ve ever paid a company to do a full job, and it’s been a thoroughly stressful and draining experience. I’m pretty broken and exhausted by it all right now.

My builder, checkatrade etc only work if people also give negative reviews.

I will give a fair but honest review, pointing out the deficiencies of the job. More concerned about how to get it looking ok at the moment though.

Speak to him and advise that if he can't fix it to a standard you would expect, you will get a "reasonable" quote from a professional tiler to redo it. However much it comes to, ask if he's prepared to knock it off the final payment. If a new quote comes in more than the £1000, you may have to suck up the remainder yourself, as it would have most likely cost you more to get a professional tiling job the first time round (but at least it wouldn't have needed doing twice).

If he goes for it, do your trust-a-wotsit review saying what you were happy with, what you weren't happy with but make a point of saying the guy may have bitten off more than he could chew but was reasonable in offering to contribute towards getting it fixed.

Retiling everything will be in the region of £2500-£3000, so that's out of the question for now. Right now I'd settle for a few small cosmetic things, and the Silicon redone to a decent standard.
