Gentleman Jim

When you are asked to put mosaic inserts in "normal" tiling, eg in a bathroom say 250x300 ceramics, how do you bed the mosaics so they are flush with the rest of the tiles? The mosaic trowels are only 3mm whereas the ceramics are laid on a 6mm bed.
Any tips gratefully recieved.

get some super thin cheap contract whites and cut them the same size as the mosaics.

Then stick em to the wall and then stick mosaics on top of the contract whites.

Hey presto they are now at the same depth/height/thickness as the field tile!

Mmm I had this problem and didnt think of the thin tiles but used a 10mm trowel, the mosaics where small rectangles in brickbond and it worked well, I took one off to check coverage, OK. Padded in with grouter.

just cerate walls with10mm trowel and pad the mosaics down with grout float to level off with tile,DONT PRESS TOO HARD.
