adhesive strong enough to take the bounce away !

Hi Y'all, I was talking to a designer yesterday and she was asking me if the Flexible adhesive supplied ( Granfix ) would be flexible enough to deal with the floor bounce. The tiling firm on site wanted to specify another brand because it was more flexible and would help to eliminate the bounce !! I took a deep breath............... it just makes you wonder that with all the information out there ,including this and other forums, that designers, tilers and the general public just do not have the first idea about the basics of substrate preparation. Cow.

I have no idea about the Granfix but Mapei have Keraquick with Latex plus as one of the most flexible adhesives you can get.

Good morning Sir but would this eliminate the bounce ? Surely we need a no bounce scenario for a long lasting trouble free lay ? Pardon the expression ! Cow

Only way to eliminate the bounce is to strengthen the floor....Overply ( 15mm min) or additional noggins or joists.

Should tell her she will only get bounce if she walks on it, so if no one walks on it then it should be ok

That's one solution Charlie1, I quite liked the silence after I informed them about correct prep procedure, just thinking of all the floors layed wrong in the past and all the problems to be sorted in the future .......Hmmmm

You can have the most flexible adhesive going.. but tiles do not bend.. .. sort the deflection first.. then use an S2 for added peace of mind..

Oh I dunno, I have seen my fair share of Bendy/Bent tiles in my time :lol:

Or tell her once its laid, you are only allowed to tip toe across it, cause you are lighter when you tip toe obviously
