Advice for sub floor prep

Hi,

Soon to lay 500mm sq tiles onto screeded hall/kitchen floor 25m2. Hall floor has vinyl tiles stuck to screed. Should I remove vinyl and adhesive then prime and slc or slc over adhesive? There is a 5mm dip just in front of the front door so need to level that anyway.

The screed down now is 20 years old, no cracks, looks good, what is your advice on whether decoupling membrane is needed too?

Morning. As you say , remove existing floor covering and check what was used to adhere. Remove if required and prime. Slc the area. No need for anti crack if the floor is ok.

Thanks for the advice Dave. I’ve removed the vinyl and scraped off the adhesive. Should I use slc even if the floor is already flat? I put a 1200mm level over it and there seems to be less than 1mm variance all over. The previous screed is 20 years old, good to tile on or is best practice to slc anyway.
