Just wondered what everyone does when tilng under kitchen units where say a 3/4 tile is going underneath. Do you leave a full tile(where there are no legs) or would you cut so its flush with plyboard etc? just thought it would save time cutting all of them...

I did my kitchen floor and thought about the same thing, but being a symmetrical type of guy, I just had to cut them so I had a nice straight line.

If you can cut dry it really isn't a problem. Only takes time if you have to wet cut really.

I will have this problem soon after Xmas.
One of my freebies has bore fruit - doing a small kitchen floor for cash pound notes. All I know is it's about 10 - 12m2, new kitchen has been fitted, an old concrete floor. They have bought the tiles - don't know what yet though.

Getting quite nervous at the thought - a bit like Micheal Caine in Zulu ( bound to be on for Xmas) when he asks Stanley Baker if he always feels like this after a battle and as Lt Chard he says do you think I could do this more than once?

What a film!

Or the tilers film - Tile M for murder. ( yes it is a real title)

I always try and tile a kitchen floor before the kitchen goes in. Get a kitchen plan off the client. Tile with a full tile to around 18 inches off any wall a unit is going on top of. Tile to the wall where any white goods go. So that if a washing machine needs pulling out at any time the back feet dont catch on the tile. Tiling after the kitchen goes in means more cuts, more time and more hassle. If you have a kitchen plan you can make your grout lines and setting out not 'clash' with edges of units.

Kitchen in, come back and tile the splashbacks.

I just done 32m2 kitchen, into a utility room in 0.5 x 0.5m tiles diamond set. Client already had kitchen in before phoning me. Nightmare, took 4 hours to lay all the full tiles and 2 and half days to cut tand lay the rest!!!

A mate of mine is a kitchen fitter and we work well together. When possible he will get me in first, if not he will leave of the bottom board off then cut and fit it later. But as said before, if its not seen, why waste time cutting it.
