I'm off to Royal International Air Tattoo tomorrow to checkout some planes with my Mrs' old man. Been booked for ages and they've sold out so I'm glad we booked it as it seems like a good bash. I just hope the weather holds off a bit longer at the airstrip as it's raining here quite a bit.

Anybody else going?

The show was brilliant. I think the (Italian) Frecci Tricolori's wiped the floor with our red arrows to be honest. Though I wouldn't say that out loud :prrr:

And, to be fair to the red arrows, apparently they're only in the team for 3 years and they have to move on. One guy out of the Frecci's was in the team for 11 years.

I liked the Raptor (Euro-fighter). That stuck on a good show, but so did the f-15, and the f-18's. I wouldn't like any of them chasing me (not that you'd get me up there).

It's ages since I've been to an air show, I'll be going to the Bournemouth Air Show on the August Bank Holiday though.
Just recently an old jet bomber called a Vulcan has been pulled out of moth balls and is once again taking to the skies for air shows. When I used to race a motorcycle back in my twenties, this guy that sponsored me was an old pilot. Captain Stafford Coulsdon, what a great guy, he was a Lancaster and Spitfire pilot in the 2nd world war, and after that, Squadron Leader of the Vulcan display team that would appear at air shows before the plane was retired.
I've been told that the Vulcan is to fly at the Bournemouth Air Show next month and I can't wait to see. It's about as noisy as Concorde!
Anyway, this guys obituary was in The Telegraph last year, a real interesting guy and an privilege to have known him. if you're interested have a read, here's the link...

The Raptor is the F22 Dan we don't have them, the eurofighter is the Typhoon.

Was thinking the same thing too.

I love it though, as the Eurofighter Typhoon is being bought by the Germans, and as you'll all know the Typhoon of WW2 really caused then Huns some grief, so their buying a plane that stuck it to'em years ago.
