amount of work

hi peeps,,wanted to know do most of the regular guys in here have work on every week or do you have droughts sometimes??

Hi mate,

I only do tiling part time because i have another job. If i take on anymore work then it conflicts with my other work. But i always have a good buffer of tiling work, i currently have 6 kitchen splash backs a bathroom and 18m2 slate floor to do.

Would say on and off at the moment, Spoke to other trades their phones are a little slow at the moment.

I've been ticking over all year, usually booking at least 4 to 6 weeks in front, so can't complain.

i had a quiet spell a few weeks ago for about 2 weeks but have been busy all year and i am busy at the moment but i know a lot of sites are closing down in the housing market,hope it picks up for everyone.

just out of curiosity, how many people offer other trades/services, like painting and decoration and plastering etc? im sure if you could attend a night course at a local college your quiet times will soon be filled up with work from another trades, especially plastering and plumbing, once you have that one customer that needs tiling doing, im sure you'll be able to get more work as the rest of their bathroom might need skimming or they might even consider a whole new bathroom suite fitted, plus women are always changing their mind about their kitchens! just an idea, but seems a sensible one in my mind :yes:

i know what you mean about doing other services,,if i was to go down that route id prob do a bathroom company as opose to saying you do tiling,plastering,plumbing etc makes you seound like a handyman as oppose to a proffesional tiler if you know what i mean?

oh yeah i 100% agree, at the moment i am "D. Andrews Plastering & Tiling Services" 2 skilled trades, no jack of all trades, but eventually i feel ill be aiming towareds the full wetroom/bathroom, maybe kitchens as opposed to advertising lots of trades, tho i wont be doing the joinery, a couple of friends who are joiners will be doing that in the future if all pans out and i also have an electrician on hand, i guess its about knowing contacts and scratching eachothers backs but i think its very bennificial to get some training while your quiet, 3 hours a week isnt much to ask, theres nothing on tv and your mrs will most likely drive you crazy if you dont get out for a bit of freedom on a wednesday night :lol:

haha aye i totally agree m8,,have you just started tiling m8? ive just done a course and got my 1st few jobs under my belt

yeha im new to tiling, i finished my tiling course at north east tile training at the end of april, just doing my first proper jobw at as we speak and hopefully more to come
