Hello there!

I've been reading this forum for a while now looking into the world of tiling. In the past reading through other trade forums I've noticed that the old pro's don't half ridicule the new lads who're asking questions. That doesn't seem to be going on here which is great because I'm as green as grass ha.

I'm looking to get into tiling as a career and I've saved up £5000 to give me a decent start. Over the next few month I'm going to be buying my tiling tools, van, marketing myself etc so I've got a load of questions that need answering. I've got very minimal outgoings to put pressure on me making X amount of money each week which is great as I won't have that hanging over my head. I think my first bunch of questions will be regarding tools so I'll probably see you in the tools section.

Well thats about it from me, talk to you lot later.

Hi Bernard, already said hello to you in your Sigam cutter post. Good luck with your venture into tiling, I started quite recently myself and I don't have a van as yet. To buy one straight away can be a big chunk out of your bank account so if you have a suitable family car consider starting out with that if possible. I have a cheap tarpaulin (Homebase) I use to protect the back of my car (small beemer estate incidentaly) and as yet I have not needed anything else. As my business builds (hopefully) I will probably be forced into getting a van but as yet I haven't needed it. If tiling is to be your primary form of income, cashflow will be of paramount importance and needs to be controlled carefully.
