If you can work to a high standard there is no need to blag it. Just be honest, we all started somewhere.

And to be honest tiling is like driving. There is no substitute for experience. You can get trained but you don't really start learning until you're doing it.

thats all very well but he wont get experience from this customer without the blag and he quite probably is capable of working to a high standard only the individual can put there hand on heart and say what they can honestly do

Went In To A Kitchen Shop To Hand Some Cards In The Guy Says Hes Looking For A Tiler, But He Would Like To See Sum Of My Work Or References From Previous Employers As I Said Had Been Working For Afew Years When Only Really Done Two Jobs One Kitchen Floor And One Bathroom. Any Ideas As To How To Get Round This

If you have done a few family and friends tiling work and saved a few pictures you're laughing. The kitchen compny are right to be sceptical I suppose due to the amount of bad tiling work still out there. Offer to tile a display in the store and give the guy the details to your two jobs and then make sure you keep going in to the store.

Do a job at a reduced rate and then you'll get loads back if you do a good job. Getting mates to blag might come back to haunt you as they might talk a lot of ****e if the guy asks a question they are not prepared for.

You've got a bizarre typing style may I add.

Pay them! Haha they should pay us! If we deliver, no scratch that! WHEN we deliver, they get a higher turnover cos everyone wants to know where they got their materials. They can sell to EVERYONE that passes their threshold. U can bet your Aunt Fanny u won't get every fitting job! So yeah demand a percentage from their sale! Haha

sorry guys had to bump this.... do you not have to pay these shops when handing cards in? cheers

My local CTD will put your card in their display if you let them take your business card and put their details on the reverse. There isn't a charge for this as far as I know.

They will not actively push your business however will point to their display of business cards to say 'these are some of the tilers who buy our products'. Quite a good service if you ask me and good as it's free.
