Ok, i know that is wiser, but what primer? (Considering i can't identify the substrate)Not used it lol. But primer is required imo mate. Don’t over apply so not to create a skin.

It’s Acrylic , so yes.Ah, so is that ok for gypsum based substrates too?
Thats great, so really, whatever the wall substraight turns out to be, acrylic primer bal apd will work fine? If that's the case then problem solved! And thanks very much for your help to all who commented 👍It’s Acrylic , so yes.
If u don't mind, I've got one more little question...!? There is a full height cupboard directly behind the toilet on the other side of the brick wall. I need to bring the hot and cold copper pipes through the wall and then through the false tiled wall to feed a sink that will be opposite the toilet. Should I plumb all this in before I tile or after? (Drilling the holes in the laid tiles) cheers.Thats great, so really, whatever the wall substraight turns out to be, acrylic primer bal apd will work fine? If that's the case then problem solved! First fix the pipes and use hole cutters for tiles. If u don't mind, I've got one more little question...!? Is just i heard pva was for gypsum and acrylic was for cement based substrates. But I've now bought mapei plaster primer, doesn't say acrylic specifically, but I hope its the rights stuff.why would it be a disaster to prime using acrylic or SBR if its a gypsum plaster? that's what i would normally expect to be used e.g BAL APD, tilemater Prime plus etc etc....
There's not much info on Seraphite, or Seraphinite plaster on tinterweb. I have heard of it but not sure if I've ever seen it. Given many of us have worked or been in 50s and 60s houses I guess we've probably all seen it but not known.
I think it is a fore runner to Carlite browning type plasters which were used between when lime plasters with horse hair in were the thing and, modern wall boards, and before high shine gypsum finish plaster became a thing. I'm fairly sure is calcium silicate based but couldn't swear to it...
