Why make a cheap alternative to what they already make...?????

So that if they have a product already that isn't selling as well as they want, rather than dropping the price and admitting it was too expensive anyway, they will stick it in another colour bag, call it something else and hey presto they can sell the adhesive....:idea3:

BAL did it years ago with PTB Flexible - they weren't selling it coz the price was crackers daft - so they repackaged it, dropped the price and called it Motobond and targeted the booming car showroom market and the figures went through the roof :hurray:

The BAL rep at the time told me this was the case when he was trying to get me to use it on a massive workshop floor.....

as long as any addy does what it says on the tin.... then it is the fixers choice surely lets be honest who says bal or mapaei or any brand for that matter is the best over the years ive tried them all and i find bal prob the most expensive and with the exception of the green screed addy only as good as others half the price i have even used ultra rapid set was very sceptical while using it it didnt seem to be drying as hard as i liked but a repair a few days later uncovered a bullet hard well stuck adhesive so in my opinion any addy used in the correct situation and within the manufacturers guidelines should be fine and yes we use profix regularly not a great bucket life but a decent enough addy used quickly.

Got a sample bag of the Profix Rapid Flexible last week and just used it on a job this morning.

My first impression was that it mixed really well and smooth. Once serating I wasn't disappointed either, lovely and smooth and stood up well but would compress nicely too. With regards to timescales, well I am pretty much tied to using Sovereign Porcelbond where I am, and this Profix leaves it for dead :hurray: I had enough time, on my own, to mix and serate a 5m x 0.6m stretch and fix the tiles with still having time to play about with the joints a bit  The Porcelbond would have been starting to go off by then

It was a 12m2 floor and the adhesive had set smashing by 12 o clock, for grouting after dinner :hurray:

Although I was working on a concrete substrate today, you could see and feel the flex in the mixed adhesive, which would give me further confidence to use it on plywood overlays

All in all, a good budget sticky that I would certainly recommend...:8:

Still a bit expensive for a lesser quality BAL product compared to the Mapei gear at the prices we get them in the Arms here. IMO anyway.

Not seen the TG prices yet Dan, but might be agreeing with you in the near future

I would be cockahoop if I thought I could get Keraquick for a similar price to Profix :hurray::hurray:
