Jay, the mfrs play a lot of word games here with their products for tile. The trade name "DUROCK" has become universal for all backer boards, and so many people in the trades have come to assume that it is waterproof I have to usually argue with architects, gc's, etc that the stuff isn't waterproof at all. It is only unaffected by contact with water.

As Phil and others have said, if in a shower, it automatically gets tanked.

hi Rob cant get it locally but the way you read about it in some posts it sounds like the ducks guts as far as bathroom lining goes so thought id have a bo peep but as per usual they praised it up on the pdf so asked the question on here sounds like a cement sheet copy that you pay more for the name (and yes always waterproof baths showers wall and floors)
be interesting to see if doug gets a reply
